Inglorious Bastards. I can appreciate Tarantino wanting to be different but that film was just a mess. I just don't think the Pulp Fiction style he's know for suits a story like this. The plot lacks focus. There's too much going on at once yet the pacing is very slow and jarring. The editing was really sloppy. Better editing would have gone a long way to improving the film.

The books were way over hyped too. I read quite a bit, so everyone thought I would love 'em. I think I quit half way through the second one, I have read countless thriller/mysteries that were way better. The Jack Reacher and Vince Flynn series to name about 20.

So of course I won't bother with the movies.

Well part of the brilliance is that he changed 'themes' for all three books, but they all intertwined to the very end. 1-crime/financial 2- espionage(some action) 3- courtroom/political.

The movies however were very well done. My assumption, since he didn't give any explanation, is that he didn't want to read subtitles for 2hrs. However it is very well acted, filmed well, and sets the mood well. I was most impressed by the quality of the first one I watched the next two and they didn't disappoint!

Gran Torino.

The movie could have just been Clint Eastwood stroking his own cock for 2 hours and it would've given across the same message.

totally forgot about this movie. this movie was terrible. some of the worst acting i've ever seen in hollywood, clint included.

also makes me put million dollar baby on the list. eastwood is just terrible as a director, and an actor. he sucks.

I have heard the Danish subtitled versions were much better. Anyone watch them?

just to clarify--because you would not have gotten that: you are challenging me based on my knowledge of cartoon ponies and lame internet memes--the type of thing that is so transient and meaningless that your feeble attention span will have tossed in to the dustbin within 3 months for something equally as vapid.

I'm laughing at you trying to put on airs, speaking as though your opinion is the final say in the matter when your opinion is only based upon things you assume are connected to the show. In your blindness you are walking straight into walls, and I'm sitting back watching it all.

DS: "Hey guys, have you heard of this thing called 'Ice cream'? It's really good!"
z: "Ice... cream? WTF is that? If you want ice, we have water ice. And cream is perfectly acceptable in its liquid form. I hereby declare that this 'Ice cream' is a pointless invention, and so will never try it."

DS: "Mmmmm... these hot dogs are kinda good."
z: "DOG?? That's disgusting! I hereby declare that 'hot dogs' are disgusting. That opinion is binding to all humans."
DS: "Mmkay."

DS: "Hey guys, I just found out about these things called "lolcats." They're pictures of cats with grammatically incorrect captions attached. Quite funny in the way they're done, actually."
z: "What is funny about cats? They are basic carnivores. And by 'grammatically incorrect' you must mean 'text speak', so you must be a 17 year old moron. No intelligent person wants to read a sentence full of errors. So go away and never talk to me again -- our opinions on entertainment are just too far apart to ever be reconciled."
DS: "Whoa, face plant!"

As long as you continue to think that you conclusions based on presumption are just as good as my conclusions based on observation, you have no chance.

And the pony train has been going for 6 months now. Season 2 has already been produced, and we bronies are waiting for it to come out.
My Little Pony is actually a good show. That has staying power.
Even if season 2 turns out to be a stinker and the show never recovers, season 1 will still have been great. That can't be taken away. 2010-11 will have still been epic due to that.

You think Amadeus sucked?

SRSLY?

Whoa whoa, who's talking shit abuot Amadeus? Them's fighting words.

I forgot to mention Saving Private Ryan; give me The Thin Red Line any day of the week. SPR was decent, but in my opinion it's not the amazing movie it's made out to be.

If you don't like ND it is probably because it hits too close to home. So I can understand why most of ATOT does not like it.

Yeah Ink is not very good. It and Wristcutters A Love Story were both hipster wannabe mediocre films. I've seen way too many that act like both are deeply profound when they offer nothing beyond the surface.

Or perhaps you were looking to be hipster about "hipster movies" and so missed the deeper meaning.

Ink is not hipster in the least. It doesn't try, it succeeds. You just cannot watch it like a normal American retard, expecting everything to be spelled out for you in the movie. If you sift through the minutia looking for the big picture, you're not going to have a clue what's going on.

Ink banks heavily on Christian mythology to construct its world. If you cannot see the similarities and transfer the appropriate memes over, you're going to be lost. The world will look shallow and confusing and pointless, and the acting within the world will look to hang on nothing.

If your understanding of the tenets of Christianity consists of nothing but, "Jeebus saves,"... Ink probably ain't gonna work for you. If you don't know about the proscription against suicide, the special place that humans hold in the hierarchy with the primacy of self-determination and thus the incompatibility with interference with free will, and you can't get your head around Jesus being portrayed as a girl... you've missed the entire movie.

After I watched it I saw a few people here talking about it. I still haven't seen any mainstream media or anything talk about it, so not sure how it was overhyped.

Oh, I just brought it up as a counter to Children of Men. An example of a truly great movie.

Ink was average at best. It was an interesting concept that failed in its execution.

I applaud the effort, but as a film it just did not come together.

You sure? This looks an awful lot like a meltdown.

It's better than the Thin Red Line at least.
SPR was acclaimed for its visceral style of action with color treatment that is out of everyone's league.
To this day, people try to come up with their own vintage treatment in this caliber, and it never comes close. Maybe O Brother, Where Out Though comes close.
Awesome directors use your senses to maximize emotion. Great film look, great score, great sound editing. Dialouge that was only essential, a simple but thought out plot only brought out the best.
TTLR just seems forced with a pace that meandered.

I am probably in the minority, but I thought Thin Red Line was better than Saving Private Ryan, not to take anything away from that film however. I just found TRL more engrossing.

The opening to the movie was great. It went downhill from there with a slight pick'me up during the basement bar scene.

Really? I loved the dialogue and suspense throughout the whole thing. A lot of time there wasn't a ton of action but the interaction and suspense really grabbed me. I really liked that movie.
