girl with dragon tattoo.

The books were way over hyped too. I read quite a bit, so everyone thought I would love 'em. I think I quit half way through the second one, I have read countless thriller/mysteries that were way better. The Jack Reacher and Vince Flynn series to name about 20.

So of course I won't bother with the movies.

DominionSeraph: I haven't seen CoM, and some of your arguments sound credible (the same way I deconstruct stories that don't make sense due to unexplained motivations).

However, I can't help but personally dislike you when you baselessly insult Zin's intelligence. Based on Zin's past commentary, he already strikes me as a thoughtful, legitimate media critic. He and I disagree on particular movies and general political ideology, but I still think his opinions are valuable.

It's REALLY irritating that you keep going back to the "intelligence" insults. I think you need to read your own posts repeatedly until you understand how you're being a dick, then maybe apologize to Zin.

Otherwise, I got no respect for ya.

lol, internet, you never cease to break the stereotype.

popular -> sucks

-and-

"i like xxxx" -> well, you're not intelligent enough to realize it sucks, SHUT UP AND LOOK AT HOW INTELLIGENT I AM.

This, honestly. lol.

The fighting was because civilization was falling apart. Without the hope of new generations things crumbled.

Crumble != all-out war.
Humans have an energy budget, and they do not spend meaninglessly. The people fighting were expending a ton of energy, so they must have had a cause. But what cause is worth engaging in major combat operations over when there is no future?
The people in that world would have reevaluated the cause to fight given their new surroundings. But that's not what the movie showed -- it showed stereotypical war scenes; i.e., scenes of people fighting for a future.

When facing extinction, self-image is devalued. Things would become more basic. Fights would be instinctual -- vicious, but short. People could manage to band together to take care of a problem for a time, but that could not be maintained for long as they would want to break up to return to their solitary depression. They would not stand having their energy budget be under the control of someone else for very long -- they would want it for themselves, to seek after what small personal desires they had left. The large "causes" would just no longer be meaningful when everybody's going to die.

The baby was in danger because there were those who were interested in not seeing the baby born.

WHY?

If they had slipped into, "Everything is meaningless," the baby would be meaningless -- they wouldn't care one way or the other. But if they had meaning to their lives, then the future would have meaning, too, and you need babies to have a future!

There's no system common enough for a group to form that would desire to kill the baby. An individual can have an aberrant value system, but an organization isn't gonna pop up to service it.

They never showed a value system that valued X and that a baby was in contradiction to. So why would anyone be against a baby?
If they had set up that this was a new whack-job religion, that would've at least been something. Kinda cliched that religious people are mindless fools with no sense or morals, but at least it fits reality.

The "meaningfulness" of the baby in the big picture was sort of the whole point of the movie. The journey of the movie was Clive Owens' character (who is in every shot) arc, as he starts to find purpose in life, both micro and macro.

What one man thinks is irrelevant, especially as his journey wasn't shared.
Nothing external ever changed.

Dude.

you should stick to your pony cartoons. it is all you can understand. film and story structure is beyond you.

your assumptions over my experience, much less my intelligence, is laughable.

you will always be tied to your kiddie cartoons. your perv jap cartoons.

good luck with that, he whose testicles refuse to drop.

Quite ironic that DoucheSeraphe would try to pwn you when he/she/it can't even understand why the baby in Children of Men is significant. I highly recommend people do not respond to a post of his, nothing but a troll.

yeah, I'm done with that kid. I would like to argue with reason, but it's perfectly obvious that he is incapable. It's bizarre that he trashes a movie for the very same, undefined reasons that he praises another in the same breath.

this, his P&N posts, it is obvious that he is simply uninformed spewing crazy. It shames me that he identifies with the same political views that I identify, with, but whatever. It's only fair, I guess, b/c the other side has to keep spidey.

I now understand the childish cartoon pony addiction, the very same ponies that cousins played with and my brother and I ripped apart to taunt them back in ~84. Well, I don't understand it, but it helps to explain his ability to process a lucid thought.

no apology needed, as I clearly don't shy away when insults are thrown.

Me? A dick?
I've known that for a looooong time.

I don't take disagreement well. I'll blast at an opponent's argument until either theirs or mine breaks. Unfortunately, so very few people actually have a real argument, so they don't give me anything to really break or to test against mine.

the guy whose avatar exposes him as a pre-pubescent twat.

lulz.

just to clarify--because you would not have gotten that: you are challenging me based on my knowledge of cartoon ponies and lame internet memes--the type of thing that is so transient and meaningless that your feeble attention span will have tossed in to the dustbin within 3 months for something equally as vapid.

You've stepped in it this time, pony boy.

TBF, DS has said P&N is merely his toilet. To carry that analogy further, his posts would be the stool samples, and the stool samples indicate serious issues, mental impairment, and disease. Not sure if the windowlicker has a choice actually, its like picking on the handicapped kid back in 2nd grade for having to walk around with a helmet on or getting on the short bus.

Tis why it is best just not to respond, all you will get is vitriol and lame insults in return, rather than honest discourse.

All SW movies, Titanic, any John Wayne movie, Spiderman 1 + 2, all Rocky movies, all Rambo movies, in fact almost all Stallone movies, etc.

I think most of the Pixar movies are overrated. I especially disliked cars, finding nemo and monsters inc.

Then again I enjoyed Juno and Napoleon Dynamite so maybe I'm an idiot.

Don't bother finishing the movie, it is awful! I actually own the movie (Ink), watched it ONCE and shelved it. The movie was predictable with AWFUL acting. Would not recommend it.

Hurt Locker- The idiot critics talked about how 'realistic' portrayal it was for real bombsquad. They also loved the artistic anticlimatic ending. Fucking eh, I do appreciate movies that are subtle, but I cannot stand this trend of anticlimatic for the sake crap.
THIS TIMES 1000. Movie was way overrated and unrealistic and just stupid.
Oh yeah Grave of the Fireflies too. Fuck that movie.

KT

Edit: I have issues with cartoons apparently.
Cartoons are for kids. Anybody disagreeing with me probably has mommy issues.
Before I forget, Dark Knight.

Not a horrible movie at all but people everywhere were saying it's one of the greatest movies of all time. These people must not watch that many good movies.
They must not watch any. That movie was terrible. Just boring and one of the ugliest actresses of all time in it.

I liked district 9
I remember hearing a good bit about Crash(2005), watched it a couple years after it came out and thought it was absolutely horrible. I'm still kind of pissed I wasted 2 hrs on that film.
Yep, more overhyped blah.

Recently, I would say Star Trek.

I had huge expectations for that movie, but didn't really get into it at all.

Avatar. What a fucking awful peice of shit movie.

Every fanboy that jizzed on themselves over the "greatness" of this movie needs to have their diseased brain removed. It really was sickening.

no. not hardly "'nuff said."

it doesn't mean dick to the movie. who gives a flying fuck if one bitches about "OMG army guy would not do that WAAAA I can't accept fiction except Platoon was FUCKING AWESOME!"

seriously: stick in ass about realism in your movies. remove it. nao.

I didn't say anything about realism. Watch that scene, it doesn't even make sense at all. Its just outright terrible. Many of the other scenes are just as bad (pretty much any of them that has any action).

Like towards the end of the sniper scene. The dorky white guy looks, acts like he realizes he sees something, then they jerk the camera away and come right back and he's lazily leaning on the rock again. Then he finally decides to actually look at it. Then he bumbles about telling the others and asks if he should fire? Then he fires off several rounds willy nilly and yet somehow nailed the guy? Then the scene just sorta ends.

The start of the scene is also completely fucking stupid. The British mercs just stand there with guns out instead of saying something right away? It doesn't make them look badass its just stupid. The entire scene (er make that movie) is a cluster fuck of stupidity from a writing, acting, directing, and editing standpoint.

Don't bother finishing the movie, it is awful! I actually own the movie (Ink), watched it ONCE and shelved it. The movie was predictable with AWFUL acting. Would not recommend it.

Yeah Ink is not very good. It and Wristcutters A Love Story were both hipster wannabe mediocre films. I've seen way too many that act like both are deeply profound when they offer nothing beyond the surface.

I really really loved Ink.. other than the duct tape over eyes.. which was a bit cheesy. Seriously.. this movie is awesome.

I liked Ink too. I never saw anything about it before I watched it, just thought the description in netflix sounded interesting.

After I watched it I saw a few people here talking about it. I still haven't seen any mainstream media or anything talk about it, so not sure how it was overhyped.
