That was Crichton's first story and it was very enjoyable. As a fan of sci-fi and biology I found the story fascinating. Andromeda kills in seconds upon contact with it. How it does that was wicked. The virus itself evolved to live in the upper reaches of our atmosphere and has no dna, rna or amino acids. All of it's functions are based on a crystalline structure. It also mutates rapidly which sets up the ending for the story.Does it reveal something with respect to where we are now with this pandemic? I gotta say, it has my full attention.
