Moving from FiOS to TWC & TMO@Home

Currently have FiOS Triple Play (TV, Phone Internet), but unsatisfied with the customer services and constant billing issues. Would like to move over to TWC TV and Internet and TMO@HOME VOIP service; how should I proceed without losing internet for a day & line number portability? I thought I could do it this way:

1) Sign up & have installed TWC TV & Internet;
2) Sign up for TMO@HOME; then
3) Cancel Verizon FiOS.

The biggest thing is to not lose the phone number, and I know with cell LNP, you want to open the other service first, port your number over, and then cancel your old account.

Please don't make this into an argument about TWC vs FiOS; I'm just looking for the best way to move the service.

I would have said the same thing a year ago, but with the constant billing issues, it's just not worth it anymore.

sign up for TWC and they will walk you through on how to switch over the phone. you will need to give them your address as it is appears to Verizon and they will do the rest. you might need to call verizon up for that. after it is switched over you can call verizon to make sure they will cancel you.

I would have said the same thing a year ago, but with the constant billing issues, it's just not worth it anymore.

Don't the constant billing issues end up resulting in discounted service (credits) in the long run? I'd kill to have FIOS around here. Instead, I've got my choice on Knology or Mediacom. Had the former - you want to talk about billing issues? The latter has been fairly smooth sailing, though it really is pretty much vanilla service (I have to pay extra for the cable box, modem rental, and if I wanted - voicemail?!). But I do get 20Mbps/2Mbps internet, digital cable, and phone service for $90/mo (this year). Could be worse I guess.

Trying to get a proper credit out of Verizon is impossible. I've been lucky with VZ other than having never received a bill (but just get charges on my bill) but I've had to deal with a rising month to month. Once January hits I'm out w/ VZ and in with someone else.
