Moving RocketRAID 642L & TowerRAID TR5M6G

I'll be upgrading my HTPC from a Phenom II 1090T to an AMD 8 core chip and new motherboard soon, and I'm wondering if I can move the 642L raid card and TR5M6G eSATA case with a 10TB array to the new computer? I'll be running the same OS (Windows 8.1 Pro) and the card to the new motherboard and I really don't want to loose the data.

Does anyone have any experience moving raid controllers and drives to another computer without losing the data?

That should work, but you'll want to consult the RAID card's manual first. There may be some additional steps, and/or you may have to use the RAID card BIOS to recover the array.

Having backups would also be a very, very good idea.

I hope it will work, otherwise I'll need to back up nearly 7TB of videos.

It should work, but as with all things, there's no guarantee. RAID is one of those things that vary widely with firmware and chipsets. As always, RAID is not a backup, and if you don't want to lose your data, you should already have a backup strategy in place.
