After a fresh install of Win7, I'm moving some of the boot_drive\users\myName folders off the boot drive and onto a data drive.
To get to the user folder/'pointers', I click Start, then my username at the top of the right column. Then I select on a folder/pointer, e.g., My Pictures, access Properties tab and change location, e.g., data_drive\Pictures.
When Windows makes the move, it renames the destination folder from 'Pictures' to 'My Pictures'. And in the explorer view of the user folder/'pointers', it creates a folder 'Pictures', so this list of user folder/'pointers' now contains 'My Pictures' and 'Pictures'. Is that expected behavior?
If I wanted to undo the move and get the data back to the boot drive and under it's original folder/'pointer', how would I do so?
[Edit: OK, seems like I can undo it. At first, clicking on Restore Default in the Location tab was yielding "Folder Redirection Failed: Access is Denied", but after restarting, Restore Default works.]
Interestingly, the list of folders is different between boot_drive\users\myName and the folder view I get when clicking Start, and then my name. After making the aforementioned move, the latter folder shows both 'My Pictures' and 'Pictures', while the former folder only shows 'Pictures'. Is this because the former folder is showing pointers, while the latter is showing libraries?
