Are you sure about that? My impression was that Firefox/Thunderbird were simply single-unit versions of Mozilla, in case you wanted a browser but not an e-mail client or vice versa.Originally posted by: bunnyfubbles
Firefox is more of a Beta version of the next Mozilla, the version 0.8 kind of gives that away...

MyIE has most of the features of FireFox (and probably some more) but uses the IE engine so you don't have to worry about not having the proper plug-in's etc. That is the one thing that keeps me from using firefox full time. MyIE is pretty awesome.

Ditto on that...

I would be all over FireFox if I could solve my issues, links that do not open from emails (very annoying) or they open local files (what the heck is that), I for one do not like the holes that IE (and it's add-ons) have, but till someone fixes some of these issues, I have to work with a browser that works.

How does one Google toolbar work better than another?
Big_Al, u need to try to load a very heavy duty page. it's not the d/ling that's slow, since speed is determined by ur internet connection, it's the rendering engine. you should check out all the existing extensions you can addon to firefox. some of them are really neat.

anyone else having a problem opening links from email? I tried both outlook express and Thunderbird, No links open from OE and when I click on a link in Thunderbird, it only opens a local file and not the URL.

Easy fix.
You have to change a few of Windows associations ("tools>folder options>file types" in Explorer) to reflect the name change (from Firebird.exe to Firefox.exe). The ones you want to fix are (the "open" selections in these):
URL: HyperText Transfer Protocol
URL: HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy
HTM: Internet Document (HTML)
HTML: Internet Document (HTML)
Change those to reflect the .exe's new name, and if necessary, the directory if you changed it and the OE linking should work again
You can probably also do the same through the registry (search for all the "Firebird.exe" entries and change those to the new name and if needed, new directory)

This did not fix my problem, I even created a new user(winXP) and setup Firefox as default, Thunderbird as default mail client and links still open as a local file, links in OE did not open at all with FireFox.
