Not exactly. Refer to the Firefox FAQ for that answer.Originally posted by: mandms7
Ok, I'm retarded. I'm using Mozilla 1.6, is this the same thing as Firebird?
Firefox coexists with Mozilla without any problems. Also, keep in mind that Firefox is a web browser only?not an entire "application suite" like Mozilla?so it doesn't include an e-mail client. Therefore, it's not possible for Firefox to cause the loss of your e-mail messages and settings. Also, what is the best way of installing Firefox if I currently have Mozilla 1.6 installed and don't want to lose all of my e-mail messages and settings?

How does this browser compare to Avant Browser. Avant has a great popup killer and tabbing.

I got rid of the Bookmarks Toolber, but the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder (in the Bookmarks menu) is still there. Any way to get rid of that?

It's bad form to reply to your own message, but I was overly harsh here. If you have a fast machine, Firefox is smokin' hot -- page rendering speed is spectacular. It's just when you're running on lower-end Pentium IIIs or below that Firefox starts sputtering. I do still prefer the Opera interface with all its useful features, however.

Check out Tabbrowser Extensions by Shimoda Hiroshi. As someone mentioned earlier, it's one of the best extensions around. There is an option there that will keep all your tabs when you reboot. There are also a ton of other options for tab usage, I'm sure it can fill your needs.

So how long until Microsoft hires Clint Eastwood to steal it? And how long after that until Atari makes a laserdisk game out of it?

I love it, but every once in a while I come across a page that straightout refuse to open without explanation.
What can I do about pages that do not open?
Other pages give an error indicating that they require IE6 or Netscape 6 - is there a way to at least fake the latter ones into believing it's IE or NS?

hey guys....what is the huge difference between it and IE? If it is faster on certain machines (what is "faster"- i assume it means when you initially load it up) then what kind of machines are you guys using l I'm using a 2400+ and I'm interested because of all the hype I'm noticing, but if it just has a smaller footprint in memory...than b/c I got 512 megs of ram and gaming has become a thing of the past for me so I'm hooked up just fine
But does it load faster....what doe sit offer than makes it better than IE?

I understand the joy of escaping from MS products.
From my first 98lite installation w/out Internet Explorer I've been hooked on alt. browsers.
However, after a few hours of FireFox browsing, I can honestly say that the the newest MyIE2 browser is much better (for me, anyway).
I think MyIE2 is a more mature product and it wins this round of the browser wars (for me). The skins available for MyIE2 are also bonus.
One issue I failed to test in FoxFire before uninstalling was assigning an Alias to a website. To check Yahoo mail, I type ?YM? To visit the hot deals forum, I type HD.
I find this faster than clicking through bookmarks. Is this available in Foxfire?
