Ok, I'm retarded. I'm using Mozilla 1.6, is this the same thing as Firebird? Also, what is the best way of installing Firefox if I currently have Mozilla 1.6 installed and don't want to lose all of my e-mail messages and settings?

Not exactly. Refer to the Firefox FAQ for that answer.

Firefox coexists with Mozilla without any problems. Also, keep in mind that Firefox is a web browser only?not an entire "application suite" like Mozilla?so it doesn't include an e-mail client. Therefore, it's not possible for Firefox to cause the loss of your e-mail messages and settings.

I'm using both Avant and Firefox right now. It takes a bit of tweaking and downloading to get Firefox to operate similar to Avant, but Firefox is much better.

Avant is very nice; I think it's the best IE-based tabbed browser out there.

i would use this if it could do one thing....

- this - click here for the thing

unless i am an idiot i can't figure out any way to make a links bar like this with weird icons.....

i would die if i couldnt get to like 25 of my most used websites just by seeing the weird recognizable icon out of the corner of my eye and clicking on it.... is there any way to do this in firebird?

From the menu bar, choose "View" -> Toolbars -> then uncheck "Bookmarks Toolbar"

I just can't live without my Yahoo! Companion Toolbar in IE. I doubt it's supported on any other browsers? :|

It's just when you're running on lower-end Pentium IIIs or below that Firefox starts sputtering. I do still prefer the Opera interface with all its useful features, however.

I have to disagree here. I'm running a Celeron 300 with 256MB of RAM and Firefox is clearly faster than IE 6 and NS 7.1.

I love it, but every once in a while I come across a page that straightout refuse to open without explanation.

What can I do about pages that do not open?

Other pages give an error indicating that they require IE6 or Netscape 6 - is there a way to at least fake the latter ones into believing it's IE or NS?

sounds like session saver which i am currently using.

There's a very useful extension you can get for download that adds to the right-click context menu "Open link target in IE". Helps a lot when you get to a page designed with code that only IE understands because the coder is lazy and doesn't conform to universal standards, discovers that IE doesn't mind what he/she's doing, and leaves it as is.

There are some bits of your childhood that are just burned into your memory. When I was a wee child, I watched that movie all the time when ABC showed it as their movie of the week (and they showed it a LOT back then). And back then that game was the coolest. Can't wait until they figure our how to get it properly emulated in MAME. Probably doesn't look at that great now, but I'd be fun to give it a try again.

There is a procedure to remedy this problem here

I think a lot of people can't handle Opera's "different" user interface. It is by far the most different of the browsers out there.

But does it load faster....what doe sit offer than makes it better than IE?

I can't believe no one's posted this link yet. Why switch to Firefox?

From my first 98lite installation w/out Internet Explorer I've been hooked on alt. browsers.
However, after a few hours of FireFox browsing, I can honestly say that the the newest MyIE2 browser is much better (for me, anyway).

I think MyIE2 is a more mature product and it wins this round of the browser wars (for me). The skins available for MyIE2 are also bonus.

MyIE2 is written by something like two developers compared to the team on Firefox backed by the entire open source community, and anyone can submit bug patches. This is like comparing IBM to the company your brother started as far as resources go.

Firefox has skins as well.

Also with MyIE2 you get the added "benefit" of all the vulnerabilities in IE and the 60 mb install sizes (for IE6), if you can even figure out how to get the complete install off of the MS website. By contrast, some people run Firefox off a flash drive.

Of course adware/BHOs aren't constantly trying to install into Firefox, but anything using IE cannot say the same.

One issue I failed to test in FoxFire before uninstalling was assigning an Alias to a website. To check Yahoo mail, I type ?YM? To visit the hot deals forum, I type HD.
I find this faster than clicking through bookmarks. Is this available in Foxfire?

Yes, and it's called Quicksearches. Some are installed by default under the bookmarks menu. You can make/edit as many as you want.

I've used MyIE2 to see what it was about and I've never seen a program so cluttered with options, but that's personal preference I guess.
