I wish it would keep the same address, because sometimes i like being able to open a new window, and go back to the previous page.

most everything that you don't like about firefox can be installed by extenstion. the one u'll want is called Duplicate Tab.

Firefox kicks IE ass right now, but sadly many websites out there are still formatted for IE only, since people think it's a standard or somethin. And when the world finally does revolve around Firefox, it will become just as security compromised as IE is now.

I'll second that one. I loved IE. As in an all over, dirty kind of love.

But alas, even I have seen the light.

Extensions make a lot of difference. And I just started using them last week even though I've been using Firefox since February.

I tried to import my stuff from IE and it froze, that's annoying. Keeps doing that too, and gives me error report thingy everytime. At least i can say i tried it ;P. Just plain ole' IE is fine for me too, i don't have to be different

My friend said the Feds don't like consumers using IE now. Shows how bad IE has gotten lol.

Is this worth it for somebody using the latest Netscape? I really like Netscape Mail, and I can pretty much do everything you folks like about FireFox.

Mozilla/Firefox does not contain the Netscape-proprietary code needed for using Netscape Mail using a non-webmail interface. Obviously, webmail should be usable in nearly any browser.

OK I installed it and it seems like a great browser but when I go to a site that opens a window with media player for streeming video nothing happens. All you anti-IE guys help me out please.

I noticed a small problem too. When I visited Wachovia Bill Pay and clicked on the drop-down box to select which account, I noticed it took (2) clicks to finally get the drop-down box to work. The first click made the dotted lines appear (focus) and the second click opened the drop-down box.

IE and Netscape only require one click.

Maybe just nitpicking but annoying nonetheless.

I've decided to try it for a couple days. Seems like it takes at least double the time IE does to load up, that's odd. Anyone to turn off the auto-complete feature?

Think I'm finding regular Mozilla to work better for me.

Any extension I would need or any other way to get Firefox to open my old IE shortcuts without first giving me an error message?

actually porbleemo, i just used a program i think its called n-lite it basically remakes a windows iso image to get rid of all the crap you dont want, IE was an option for removal. I use firefox as my browser but keep IE around any way just incase i come across a page that gets snippy. considering IE and explorer are so inbred that they are practically the same thing i dunno if it REALLY removes it, but just putting out the possibility

FireFox installed perfectly on my one machine but wouldn't import any settings from IE on the second machine. Looking through their support forums, it looks like this is a very common problem for some.

Is there a fix yet ?

They call it "Wand" or something.

Personally, I still think Opera > Firefox > IE.

Just downloaded and installed. So far so good. Automatically imported bookmarks, history, cookies, home page, etc. Appears to load faster MSIE. My brother recommended earlier today so I decided to give it a try.

just installed firefox a couple days ago... here's my one problem, maybe one of you can help me out: i like putting the address toolbar down next to my start menu, and typing in a url there to pop open the net. problem is that with firefox as the default browser, when i do that, it opens two instances of firefox

I myself prefer a single toolbar in my browser window. Until Firefox makes the toolbars as customizable as IE, it's still not perfect to me. I want to be able to move the entire navigation bar up on the same row as the Menu bar. All that wasted space up there on my 1600x1200!

People still use that? 2048x1536 here. But then again, I'm running an X800 XT ($350) and a 24" CRT.

As for the 2 instances fix:

(1) open Explorer.
(2) choose Tools->Folder Options
(3) click on the File Types tab
(4) scroll down a page or two and click on "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol"
(5) click on advanced
(6) highlight "open" and click Edit
(7) uncheck "Use DDE"
(8) repeat for "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol With Privacy"

Happy browsing!

Wait - What does that do for you? I thought it was going to enable me to move the nav bar...
