Mozilla, again, has failed on me. I started browsing the net with Mosaic, moved to Netscape and finally to IE because of how well IE became when version 4 hit the net. I yearned for the day Netscape would be back onto my box, especially with how slow some pages can appear to load with IE and all its plugins (*cough* shockwave *cough*).
Using the earlies betas, RCs and finally Mozilla 1.0, I have come to the conclusion that Mozilla is still not "ready". Today is the prime example: Mozilla just "stopped" launching links, loading pages and doing the general day-to-day things a brower is "required" to do. I installed Mozilla (on win32), last week and have been using it non-stop since then (I really enjoy the javascript control, not taking ads from ad servers and multi tabbed browsing). This weekend was great, I had the notebook out in the living room, with wireless, so I'm surfing and watching the TV at nearly the same time. This morning, take the notebook back to work, plug it in, and start Mozilla. Mozilla is now not loading pages it was loading over the weekend, it isn't able to select a proper item from a drop down list, etc. Its becoming mainly worthless as a browser for me today (to be fair, IE has launched every link and done everything I wanted to do in Mozilla).
Performing a reinstall didn't help, changing everything back to defaults (I made minimal changes from the initial install last week, nothing since then) and changing my skin back to the default didn't help. Mozilla is still ass-like right now. I *really* wished I could be using Mozilla right now vs. IE, but its generally non functioning right now is urking me quite a bit. I am a general geek with computers and know how to troubleshoot problems with applications, but this is mind boggling and only puts me back to the best browser for Win32.
I'll continue to try and use Mozilla in the coming days, but if it doesn't improve back to what it was only 24 hours ago, I'll place Mozilla in the Recycling Bin -- where it belongs.
