I've been playing around with this cool e-mail client and so far I like it alot. I am running it on Win XP Pro.

Is there a way to run it from a server so I can use it on different machines? I want to be able to back up my e-mails periodically plus be able to see all my e-mails from different pc's around the house.

Previously I've used Outlook which allowed me to put my .pst file on the server and point to it from any outlook client?

Is the same possibe with Thunderbird?

Thanks!

Taz

Not that I know of.

I had this same problem, so I found an old pentium system and set it up as a webmail server. I'm not really to sure how you would go about doing this in Windows, though.

If it helps, the user data (your emails) are stored in: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\default

You also might want to check out the Mozillazine forums, where a lot of the developers hang out.

If you use IMAP (instead of POP), your mail will be visible from ANY machine...

You could use roaming profiles on Windows NT/2000/XP Pro and have your "home" directories in a common location. That way when you logon to any PC on your domain, you'll get the same user profile and hence the same Thunderbird mailbox/settings. Perhaps extreme for a home environment, but this is commonplace in some corporate offices.

Only problem is, the size of the mail account over time is filled. I suppose you could download it periodically.
