Every ipod and probably most every wma player these days can play lossless using Apple lossless and wma-lossless, respectively.
There is simply no need for flac that I see except better compression and higher sampling rates that are far beyond the capabilities
of most peoples' equipment. Finally, Apple's codec uses AAC which is a standard in case you want to bitch about that.
Flac has it's place, but for the most part it isn't needed for simple stuff like mp3 players unless you are a sound engineer or you know...what's her name
