I've got the Creative Zen Touch. Love it. Creative makes great stuff.

Before buying the Touch, I did research on that and on the Zen Xtra. Decided against the Xtra due to the size (bigger/heavier than the Touch) and the fact that the Xtra had lots of negative reviews regarding durability over time and battery life (Xtra's only 14 hrs, Touch is 24 hrs!). I encourage you to visit different sites and read reviews of the Xtra to make sure it's what you want before buying it. They are falling in price which says to me that they are phasing it out and replacing it with the Touch. Good luck!

I own the player you are talking about, it has worked great for me for over a year now. Its the best $179 i have spent in a long time.... BTW, i sold my ipod for this player, well worth it in my opinion (3rd gen).

I bought one, but sold it a month later.

I picked up the iRiver H120 instead. I'm glad I did. I liked the build quality, size, features, and sound better than the zen extra. Then again the H120 is/was much more expensive

here is an anandtech review.
Anand seems to hate it.

I was going to get 1 because of the low price too until i read this.

also the Rio Karma really is a good deal 20gb is more than enough(when was the last time you listened to 5days worth of music straight?).
Also, it has gapless(no pauses for wma and mp3 playback) and the equalizer is very customizable. It supports FLAC,OGG,MP3,WMA,WAV. Also the hdd issue is overblown. statisytics show that hdd failure is comparable with other players on the market(less than 1%) according to dapreview.com

I sold my Zen Xtra for an Ipod. The Ipod is worth the extra money. It's smaller, easier to use (the ipod itself and the itunes sortware), and sounds just as good if you get good headphones cause the ones it comes with suck ass. The Zen is freaking huge, good luck fitting it in your pocket. Honestly, the Ipod is best hard drive mp3 player on the market, no matter what anyone else says. Apple has perfected it.

Another vote for the Karma, in the mid 100s price range & ~20gb capacity range. It's generally regarded as the best sounding player and it's the only one I know of which supports gapless playback

Didn't know it did, I don't pay much attention to <20gb players, as they don't personally interest me. Learn something new every day, thanks.

I have the 40GB Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra (who the heck chooses the names for these things?!?!).

Love it. It IS bulkier than many other players out there, but for the price ($217 a year ago) and the large storage capacity, it can't be beat.

The interface IS clunky compared to an iPod. It catalogs and sorts according to ID3 tags - not filenames. It comes with a case w/belt clip.

Did you really? Why didn't you just return it? Most places have a 30 day return policy. You must have known you didn't like it before 30 days.
