Mp3 vs. .wma ?

What are the advantages of converting my mp3 files to .wma?...or disadvantages?

Pro: Larger Compression (Smaller File Size) - Same Quality

Con: Less Popular, very little support be it computer players or physical music players.

(possibly) big con - you already lost a bunch of quality converting to mp3. Converting the mp3's to wma will lose even more quality.

WMA sustains quality of an Mp3 with encoding of 128kb/s while WMA is only 64kb/s.

unless you are worried about space, which hopefully you aren't squeezing for mp3's .. I see no reason to use wma over mp3 .. standardization is a good thing in my opinion ..

MS also has a lot of copy protection built around WMAs, where as MP3 has none.

Be very affraid when using wma files. You may find that you get locked out of files that you converted from CDs that you own.

Microsoft Wma files and copy protection is bad for consumers. If you can, then avoid them like the plague.

ALL Mp3 players will play your Mp3s. But few play wma files. Drive space is cheap now days. And wma files sound worse than mp3 files (based upon the fact that every wma file that I have heard sounds like crap).

But if you still wonder, then convert some over to wma for yourself.
