It looks legit. That cracks me up, 10 cents a song and based in Russia, and it looks legit to you?

I use a one time CC number and spent about $20 with allofmp3.com which is now 2 cents a MB, but most of our music comes through normal channels. Buy the CD, binary newsgroups, and some weird node hopping sharing system.

I would not send my credit card info, or any personal information, to any site like this that is based in Russia. Identity theft is just too likely a chance.

And the chances of this site being legit, and actually paying the artists, are nill.

legit, but illegal for those of us in America. Russia doesn't have the same copyright laws as we do.

Argument along the lines of the many allofmp3 arguments commencing in 3... 2... 1...

(for what it's worth though, I've never seen anyone show a valid reason why either site is not legal, or illegal for Americans to use)

russion copyright laws only pay royalties to the songwriter, not the artist or company

Figures someone here would try to justify that either site mentioned here is legal with regards to US laws. Guess ya didn't read some of the info from allofmp3:
Is it legal to download music from AllOFMP3.com?

Why is it more likely than any fly-by-night company in the U.S. or did you just decide that it's "too likely" on your own?

If you're going to worry, here are three good reasons to really be worried as these don't even require you to use your card:
Reason 1
Reason 2
Reason 3

And that's just for 2005...

Or maybe you're worrying about nothing.

Why would you pay for something illegal? Might as well get it from the normal sources for free.

Either you should download from legitimate channels (iTunes, Yahoo, VirginDigital, etc.) or else you might as well just steal the stuff from a fileserver. All you do here is help fund the Russian Mafia. Why bother?

Convenience and quality. If your looking for something that's not on the Top 50 list it's not always that easy to find it the traditional P2P route especially if your looking for the full album and not just the singles. Also the legality is still in the grey area as far as I'm concerned as it has not been decided in the courts yet.

Been using this site for quite a while now. High quality songs and decent download rates. Have had around $30 in my account with them for quite some time now with no issues at all.

I use allofmp3.com. Same idea (Russian mp3 site) but probably more established with a bigger selection. I'm not sure if it is illegal in the U.S., but I use it because of the high quality rips I need (220 kbps lame vbr). The time I save not having to look for the right files is worth my 10 cents.

Sad to say I am still looking for a MP3 of Richard Thompson's version of "oops I did it again", the whole album really, current options are $25 plus shipping from his website, patience checking the binary newsgroups.

How do you discuss ethics with an industry that has made a science of ripping off both the artists and consumers for 50 plus years?

You can't be serious... This is just like most of those sites that sell mp3's without a liscense. Think about it. The record co's charge us $15 for a cd that takes less than $.50 to put on a cd and distribute. How could the RIAA and their henchmen ever accept 10 cents per song?

Don't get scammed by the vast online black market. These are those same illegal mp3's you can download for free on filesharing networks. Just because you pay for it doesn't mean you actually have the legal right to possess it. If you actually buy this jargon, "I know a Nigerian banker who wants your email address..."

Edit: For those of you outside the US, remember over 150 of the 171 countries of the world have all agreed to protecting international intellectual property rights. Enforcement within countries is a different matter, but it's illegal from any perspective. I don't claim to be a 'boy scout,' but I refuse to pay for a CD unless I've listened to it (buying it is also about the only way I can have my ultra-quality 320cbr mp3's).

In case anyone's wondering, yes they're legit. I've purchased quite a few songs/albums from them without issue. I know several other people who have used them as well and continue to do so.
