MS intellieye mice

I've just saw an intellimouse optical w/ the sticker "improved intellieye technolgy 33% faster." so my question is how well do these new improved mice work? I've heard a lot of condemning articles about the first generation mice because the mouse isn't able to keep up with fast paced games...so how about these mice? and are there any reviews yet?

New Optical Mice Announcement @ MS PressPass

I've started to see these new ones (Intellieye Optical only, tho) on the shelves. But, I cannot get a clear identifier (other than the sticker, duh!) differentiating the original IE Optical and the improved version. This makes ordering online a bit difficult, I *think* both of them have the MS part# D58-00002. However, the sticker on the bottom of each of these mice are completely different.

Can anyone offer any clues?

I got the Regular Intellimouse Explorer USB with Intellieye which is optical. Works great, best damn mouse for fps's as far as I'm concerned! I have never been as good as I am with it!

I've tried one of those 'improved'.
Still skipping when you flick it fast.
Needs further 'improvement'. :disgust:

but vrangel, are the improved mice noticeably faster/better than the first generation optical mice?

I returned my original Intellimouse Optical for the "new and improved" version. I can't really tell a difference. Then again, I never had a problem with the "old" technology anyway.

It didn't cost me any money to get the newer one, so I'd rather just be happy knowing I possibly have something better.

OK, I think I've done some research. After a computer show and a stop at Best Buy, I've determined ...

1. The only indication of the 33% faster is the sticker one the box that says so. Other than that, the boxes are identical.

2. I have only seen the 33% faster sticker on IntelliMouse Optical (not Explorer)

3. All Part # X05-77975 units I've seen are the 33% faster ones (according to sticker on box).

4. Parts #X05-48976 and X05-07293 don't *seem* to be 33% faster (I did see one X05-48976 and the computer show that had the 33% faster sticker).
