Whenever I use it really fast, its skips. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm running Win2k Adv Server with the drivers it installed.

From my experiences with optical mice they are, no matter what anyone says, picky about their work surfaces... I use a medium to dark work surface. Some people tape a piece of constuction paper to their desks. Make sure the "eye" is clean as well. Then I would say to go after the drivers... Good Luck...

I use a radpadz mousepad, and everything is good. however, I don't move my mouse SUPER fast, as many freaked out gamers and spazzes tend to do (that's a compliment, btw note that the optical eye only tracks at a certain number of times per second (don't have the number handy or memorized.... yet), so it's possible you're moving it faster than the opticaleye can track. but, a radpadz mousepad rules anyway

I am using the fUnc gaming pad, (20 bucks)Ckick hereand run the pointer speed right in the middle, works great-(but I do nitice if I crank the pointer speed way up it will get jumpy.
Good Luck

Try to use the PS2 adaptor, the USB has some problems.

No problems here. Nor with any of the last 24 I've installed on machines I built (doh too bad BUY.COM isn't selling 3pack OEM of Intellimouse Explorer Opticals..)

a lot of people have the prob with USB. but all optical mouses do that skipping thing if you move too fast. Mine does.

I've been using a Logitech optical mouse and it acts just like my old Microsoft mouse. It's dead accurate! My friend with an MS optical mouse is having skipping problems like you all are mentioning.

I had the same problem after a new install of ME, and there is an updated MS driver that after instlling and then getting the right driver to lad cured the problem or at least seemed too then after a week it started blinking anf then died. I had the MS Explorer mouse for a year and had read in another thread of many of them just turning up deadAfter a call to MS a new one was sent. Can't complain.

I tried using the explorer but the skipping was a real problem for me and it was a bit to large for my hand so i tried the microsoft optical scroll mouse It seems much better hardly ever any skipping ans it is much more comfortable. As I under stand it MS made som improvements to the models of optical mice that came out after the explorer.

The absolute best mousepad for an optical mouse is a piece of ceramic tile. Get an 8x8 or 12x12 that is a solid even color. No skips, moves nice and smooth.

I have had a Microsoft Intellimouse with Intellieye connected via USB and for around the first 6 months everything was fine. Now it constantly refuses to work properly, sometimes the mouse pointer doesn't move/moves a few seconds after I have had moved the mouse/the pointer shows the busy sign and then moves or it cuts out completely.

I have tried cleaning it. Could it be the USB connection.
