MS Office - Any Good Deals?

So most of the new desktops come with MS Works which is not great as I'm looking for MS Word and Excel. Figure I need to buy the MS Office bundled software. Best deal I have found was at Costco for $129 - the academic version (hey, my kid's in 1st grade - its all legit). Just wondering if there is a cheaper way to obtain Word and Excel (and actually own the discs, not "borrow"). Thanks!

I hate to tell you this, but technically, you couldn't legitimately buy an academic copy of MS Office. Microsoft is very strict about its rules, and to qualify for ANY kind of academic discount you MUST be a college student. High school and below don't qualify for any kind of discount.

Seems pretty clear that its K-12 and beyond .... and besides, why would it just be applicable to college students??

I actually saw the office xp academic version at target yesterday....it was 140, and it was on the shelf, so it seems as though anyone could just pick it up and buy it.
