MS Outlook 2007

How do you stop all the crud being continually added to outgoing emails in Outlook 2007 please, for a small two paragraph email, it's ridiculous to have so much code in the background, just *some* of it is included below:

iirc there is a place to define the default editor for emails, and make sure it is not set to Microsoft Word.

Worst I've personally seen was a business sending a bulk email out to their entire client list, and even though the email was a short two paragraphs long, the MS Word overhead caused the email for some reason to be 15mb in size (and this was ~12 years ago when a 15mb download for most people took a significant chunk of time). Heck I had to manually kill that email blast because it was going to tie up the entire mail server's ability to send for I think I estimated a week and a half

Thanks Cubby, I never thought of MS word being to blame for this. How do I change that default in Outlook 2007 please?

The Microsoft Office Word 2007-based e-mail editor is the only e-mail editor provided in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. The Word 2007 editor is always enabled and cannot be disabled.

The Outlook editor is no longer available in Office Outlook 2007.

But you could change it from html, to rich text, or plain txt.

Thanks, they're business emails, so needing to give them a corporate image given by html, this will also answer the other poster above a reply as well. How about Outlook 2010, does that have the same problems?

Rich Text is worse than HTML IIRC, it results in the winmail.dat stupidity I think.

Yep. Rich Text is the choice of last resort, a lot of free webmails do *not* play nice with RTF.

As for the OP, Microsoft Word is it. Word & Outlook are completely integrated since Outlook 2007, and they all strictly use Word as the editor. That being said, I'm not sure where you're even seeing all this HTML code unless you're looking at the raw email that no one will ever see anyway.
