I've seen the fingerprint reader alone sold for more than this. I have this particular mouse and love it. It has long battery life and great programability. Not good for left handed people...

Kinda interesting that Surplus only gives a 90 day warranty but if you go to Pricewatch for almost the same price you get a 1yr warranty.

I've seen post's in some forums that they sell used/refurb stuff without saying so in the product description . Refurbished would explain the 90 day warranty.

I bought MS Wireless Multimedia Keyboard & Mouse from them for $30 and have been using it for 2yrs without any problem.
I've been buying stuff at their store from time to time.

myth-busters TV show on Discovery did a fingerprint security episode.... they showed it not overly difficult to fool the sensor with a forged fingerprint.

Also, if I'm not mistaken that this very MS fingerprint unit will let about %4 of the worlds population into your computer due to similariaties between people's fingerprints. I don't remember where I got that piece of info, but I seem to recall it being a good source (like CNN, MSN, etc..)

If I recall the product correctly, the keyboard is not wireless in this combo.

Can the software accomidate mutlple fprints (users)

I bought one at woot a few months back. After the newness wore off, I realized the range was very short between the fingerprint reader (receiver) and the mouse. Mine's on a shelf.

The fingerprint reader is cool. It has a nice password program with it (assuming they give you the software).

All-in-all, the wireless mouse is "ok" and the fingerprint reader loses it novelty after a short while. I found roboform easier.

The software should be the same as the standalone fingerprint reader and, yes, it accommodates multiple users. My wife, my daughter, and I each have our logins controlled by finger swipe. It's faster and easier than typing passwords. It also allows multiple fingers per user. For instance, I have 3 fingers for my Windows login, just in case that peanut butter sandwich is on the index. I haven't set up website passwords with it yet. Most of them I have set as "remember me" with cookies.
