I've been experiencing this power loss at 3000RPM as well on my 2008 Speed 3. I have DTC test results before I replaced some things. I need to test again.

My CEL has been on since I got the car. Well, soon after I got the car. It's had issues from the star that I have been trying to get worked out. I have had the ECU re-flashed and updated by the Mazda dealership

I've replaced the weird aftermarket intake with an OEM Speed 3 intake (GRMS-8M-L29), not the airbox. With that I also replaced the autozone MAF with the OEM (L3K9-13-215-9U). Most recently I've replaced both O2 sensors, the one in the engine compartment (L33X-18-8G1C) and the one under the car (L34B-18-861B) both with OEM.

I have 4 NGK 3787 ILTR6A-8G Laser Iridium Plugs on the way. These are the best ones that are meant to fit the car. I am also going to replace some of the tubing and hose clamps associated with the intercooler when I do replace the plugs since you have to remove it anyway.

I plan to take a look at the EGR valve as well, and clean that up, maybe replace it if it won't come clean.

I'll update once I get to fixing. Linked are my pre-O2 sensor replacement readings from the BOSCH diagnostic tool Mazda uses. It won't allow me to attach at PDF and its 10 pages long.

What code(s) are you getting specifically @Speed3Joop ?

Be sure to gap your plugs before putting them in. Mine ran nicely with a .028in gap.

SeaFoam can help with sticky EGRs and other issues associated with DI engines. Have you done that?

Also, welcome to the forum!

I also have been getting a violent complete power loss. Only in the rain however, every other condition is fine. Does anybody have any ideas?

This is an old thread that's being resurrected, but I had a similar issue on an ancient 1997 Mercury Tracer. The issue ended up being a plug wire. It was about 15 years old at that point and a worn plug wire was "leaky" enough that when water was present under the hood, spark would short out across the engine block.

We were able to find it easily by filling a spray bottle with water and simply spraying it across the top of the engine. The mist would quickly cause the engine to shudder and arcs jump all across the engine block.

Now I imagine a Mazdaspeed 3 uses Coil On Plug vs an old Distributor, but it doesn't change the fact that you may have a COP or something similar shorting. It's easy enough to idle your engine and with a spray bottle, start spraying around under the hood and see if you can replicate the shuddering.

I was able to run another diagnostic and it looks like things are worse than they were in December the last time I have a copy of the diagnostic.

JFC! It looks like a portion of your electrical system has an issue. It would be worth finding the factory wiring diagram and seeing if any of these systems shared a branch of wiring.

It is noteworthy that 3krpm is about when boost is totally spooled up, so if your boost controller is malfunctioning and over-boosting your ECU will kill power to keep the engine from exploding. I suspect that this is the main symptom that you're seeing and that the root cause is something electrical given the above codes.

Yeah, it's beginning to look more and more like it could be an electrical issue. It's going to be a pain trying to sort that out.
