Thanks Monty, by the way is it possible to update this edition of SystemWorks over the web? I know that V3.0 has been updated quite a bit recently.
Regarding Sin. When this was rush released it 'stank' bigtime! Activision put out a very large patch - nearly a new game - which they sent out to owners on a CD and after a few smaller patches it turned out to be quite a good game. Just don't compare it with Half-Life, but still after all this time better than Daikatana! If you own a Voodoo 2 or 3 card download the Wicked3D mini GL drivers. They make a big difference. At this price it's cheap entertainment.

DrWermit: Norton has done an excellent job of building automatic updates into SystemWorks. Once you install it and connect to LiveUpdate (which is a control panel option), it will scan all your components, including virus definitions, and update them all to the newest possible version. Note that LiveUpdate will bother you ever 14 days with a reminder to update your virus def's unless you set it for a different time period.

This is the latest version available for sale, by the way, so once you install it and run LiveUpdate, you're all set.

And by the way, I COMPLETELY AGREE on crash guard... biggest piece of crap there is. I'm convinced it was responsible for a number of crashes on my computer... ironic. Don't use it.

(Since I disabled it, I haven't crashed once!)

Nothing that I can tell. MSBCD does this all the time... they lower prices on products by creating a new record for it in their database. Sometimes if you search you can find the exact same thing for several different prices.

Rest assured that as long as you buy it through the link for the lowest price, you'll get the lowest price.

I guess the plain version with jewel case doesn't qualify for the $20 upgrade rebate, but the retail version ($19.99) does.

WAIT....

You're not going to be able to get the $20 rebate on ANY of these. The $19.99 version doesn't include a box either, just the jewel case and printed manual.

If you want an actual box, you have to pay $59.99 at MSBCD....

So the only thing the $19.99 version has over the $11.99 version is the printed manual?

MSB has pulled the contents out of the box for the $19.99 price. You do not get a box, and hence no proof of purchase (inside top flap on box -- which you don't get).
MSB's CSR assured me that except for not getting a box or rebate form, everything else is identical between the $19.99 (MSB product code #24652) and $59.99 (MSB product code # 23265) items.

You get everything that comes in the box, that normally costs 80 or 90 bucks, who needs the rebate. Plus if you it for $19.95 you can't get a $20 rebates. Take it and run, it's probably a promotion that they will discontinue soom.

Just found out that the full manual is on the disk in Acrobat Reader format which means it's easy to print. May also be available for download at their web site, usually are.

Just received the Norton systemworks and Sin. Norton S.Works comes in a single CD with no wrapper and no manuals. Not even a CD lable. But it works and the shipping was damn fast. Sin came in the retail box for three bucks !!!

EVERYONE who ordered using any of the links above needs to check how much you were charged for each item on your order.

MontyBurns - sorry, but I have to challenge your statement above:

"Nothing that I can tell. MSBCD does this all the time... they lower prices on products by creating a new record for it in their database. Sometimes if you search you can find the exact same thing for several different prices.

Rest assured that as long as you buy it through the link for the lowest price, you'll get the lowest price.

Here's the e-mail message I received after placing my order:

In addition to only getting half my order, I was charge $1 more per title than the website then (and currently still does) show. I was charged $3.99 for SiN and $37.95 for Diablo II. Again, check your orders. Does anyone have an 800 number for this place?

Checked my order and it was fine, I've ordered 4 times from these guys and have not had a prolem with them.

Just send them a note and see what they say, I checked all 4 of my orders and they add up fine.

Great deal. Just picked up the Systemworks Pro.
It looks like they are out of SiN for 2.99, found one for 8.99.
And it looks like they are out of Descent 3 for 6.99 w/o rebate,
they do have it for 6.99 after an "internet" rebate where you
print it from their site and mail it in.
