MSCONFIG Opens with Windows???

so i have used msconfig loads of times to alter what processes startup with windows...

now on my friends computer i have seen something new. when his computer starts windows, msconfig opens.

so we click out and it asked if we want to restart... click no... he does whatever on his comp. restarts, then BAM msconfig is open on reboot.

ALSO, msconfig doesnt SAVE any of the "unclicks" we do in the startup. like i unclicked quicktime and itunes and some other processes and they are clicked again windows restarts...

norton 2006 and AVG say he doesn't have any viruses.

regmechanic says his reg is fine....

Normally when you make a change in msconfig and restart the computer, it starts with windows and displays a message about changes having been made to the way the OS starts up. But there is a checkbox that gives you the option to not show it the next time. Is this the dialog box you are seeing? If so, simply check the box and it shouldn't appear again.

how do i fix this?

is this just a "key" from the registry to delete??

i cant seem to find this in the registry... the guide to winsock2 errors on from microsoft isn't helping.

any advice would be appreciated.

Look at the output generated by HijackThis! and find the entry Schadnefroh quoted. There will be a checkbox to the left of it. Put a check in the box (click on it) and click on "Fix Errors" in the lower left of the window.
