MSI 570/oc graphics issues

Hey guys, I just bought that MSI 570/OC deal. I bumped up the core to 800 and the memory to 2125 from 786 and 2100 and when I play games they seem to be unstable. Just Cause 2 will lock up and display green dollar signs or white symbols then drop to the desktop with the audio still running and I have to kill the process. I figured I would try DA2 demo on Dx11. Made it all the way to Kirkwall, then the floor and some other stuff turned rainbow and locked up my whole system during a battle.

I thought it might be heat related, but my temps during DA2 never went above 72 with fan speed to 60%, and 80 while playing JC2 with fan on auto. I wonder if my power supply isn't up to snuff. I asked in the Power Supply thread if it would be and they said yes, but I'm having my doubts.

Edit: 786 and 2100 are the factory overclocked settings.

Lol at the dollar signs.

Anyway, maybe your card just wont go any faster? Have you tried extra voltage? But I would be careful with the voltage though.

Not yet. I did read that thread about 570's dying, but that seemed to be people who removed the max voltage safeguards. It would really suck if it couldn't go higher.

I would run your card stock or at least the memory, to verify it does not artifact at all stock. Gf110 is already running the memory a good clip higher than g100. With multi ram chips, one of them could be getting hot or just running it past its limits.

Memory is too high. Bring it down to 2000.

The stock for his card is 2100

edit; I see you know this by now.

To the OP it is not going to be an issue with your PSU imo. Your card probably just is not a good overclocker. It is still good at its stock setting. If it works fine at those settings I would leave it alone personally as I do not like to mess with voltage on GPUs.

Msi clocked the memory very very high on this card. It's a much higher overclock than the core. I wouldn't dare push that memory higher. Consider underclocking the memory only to see if that stabilizes things.

I posted that deal so I hope I didn't lead you and others to a lemon card.

Well I set the memory back to 2100, and left the core at 800 and the demo completed this time. Haven't tried JC2 or other games/benchmarks yet. I see some people getting like 4400 to 4600 on xtremesystems and [H]. Guess it was finally my time to get a stinker.

Hey guys... I have the exact same issue as the OP..... I realized that the memory was already OCed high but what about the core and shaders? Mine maxes out at around 800 -810 MHz core (artifacting in Crysis 2). The stock settings limit the max core voltage to 0.963 v. Would forcing constant voltage help stability if I don't wont to overvolt? The reason why I'm concerned is that many hardware review websites (I have visited a lot) all can push higher than 810Mhz on core without overvolting... Is that an accurate finding? Thanks!

I got mine to 845 when folding using .963 volts. There is a bios upgrade that sets the stock voltage at .975 not sure if that would help or not. I haven't played games with it yet at those clocks though, since I'm in the process of building my new system.

Just dont go over 1.1 volts or disable over current protection if you have a reference 570. There is a thread on overclock net with people who fried their vrm's. And even though it turned into a fud thread with a bunch of people posting fake deaths, factory faulty cards, and user error deaths its safe to say going over the voltage limit is deadly.
