Not sure exactly what you mean by advertising. But if referring to do I work for them, no. I just run prices I find by other pricing sites such as:
price + watch place
Price + grabber place

it beat their deals.

However, weepul, found a better deal with the FREE shipping.

for testing I always use Tom's Hardware

Yeah... which is better, the 5700 Ultra or the 9600XT?

This thread VERY SUSPICIOUS

bryantp is compgeeks pimp?

TI4600 is worth $100, but to be honest, I'd rather have a Ti4200, since they're both relatively the same performance, no DX9 and same features, but the 4200 will fit where a 4600 won't since it's shorter.

yeah but its going to be very hard to a brand NEW geforce 4600 for under $100. New 4600's usually go for between $130-$150. This is an old card so many would not recommend it since one can get a newer radeon or geforce for about the same price. At most this is a mild deal.

Well considering that I bought mine for $80 over a year ago, and that an FX5600 Ultra or Radeon 9600 is now < $100 delivered on pricewatch, I'd have to disagree.

Geforce 4 Ti 4600 seems to have exactly the same performance as Geforce 5700 and Radeon 9600XT. So I think this is a fair deal. Not bad by any stretch. See: Benchmarks. The 4600 tested there beats the Radeon 9700 in Splinter Cell...

No I am not a pimp but that is funny though. Granted most of the deals I have posted are from Compgeeks but it is a site I know and trust. I know of others, like place for a new egg, a place where stuff is overstock 'd and several local/regional/national stores but you guys find the deals at the more commonly posted sites..

I only posted it as some are DIE HARD on the brand and it is a reasonable price. Reasonable compared to other video cards is debatable, however, reasonable on price is more difficult to match.

One person commented about the 5700 model and 9600 XT - were talking 5 pts difference on BENCHMARKS here people NOT 50 or 75. Additionally, someone mentioned price after MIR, no rebate on Comps price.

Unlike some of the people here I try to stay from personal opinion unless asked. As for my own thoughts, I work in the MEDIA world doing post end video production at my church. My post come with no personal endorsement only to pass along what I think is a decent (whether warm or hot) price.

In older games they're fairly close, but in newer ones the ti4600 tends to be a little slower. However, the aa and af on the 5700 and 9600 are MUCH more useable than on the 4600. It also doesn't have dx9 support.

compusa has the bfg 5700 ultra for $149 after mail in rebates this weekend. They are also running a 10% off any single item deal that makes that the best bargain imo on a mid line card. Nice lifetime warranty too

Just a little more fuel to the fire. I mainly play Quake 3 and and COD

Benchmarks:
Quake 3
Radeon XT > 164fps
4600 8x > 191fps
COD
Radeon XT > 95 fps
4600 8x > 100fps

There are far more games where the 4600 still beats the 9600 in than it trails even to this day. For someone with a budget of 100 (like one guy said it's getting harder to find them for 100 though), the 4600 is still hard to pass up.

for me its very easy to pass up. i wont even pay 100 bucks for a GF4. Just the plain fact that its not DX9 compatible is more than enough reason to stay away from it. i mean yea, it will play the games, but whats the point of buying a card like that, when for 150 you can currently get a very decent card that is, what, maybe 5fps slower but will be able to give you the graphics you want to see...

if you play games, and are waiting for the dx9 games to come out, i say wait. if you need something now, buy something even cheaper to hold you off....look at me i have a damn 32mb ati 7200, and this plays all the games i have perfect...halo, nfsu, CS, all that crap...

I think some of you might be confusing the price of the GeForce 4 ti4600 with that of the 4200. The 4600's have always been at least $140 (excluding sales, specials, etc). Looking on pricewatch and nextag, there are many selling today for over $250, and some as high as $300. The 4600 is vastly different from the 4200 when it comes to performance, and is a very good card. It cannot be had for $80.

The GF4 4600 performs similarly to the FX 5700 Ultra, and is about $20 cheaper. The only down side is that the GF4s don't have hardware support for DirectX 9. Since some newer games don't even have OpenGL support (silly move, in my opinion), you'll want DirectX hardware support. The only game I'll want to play with DX 9 is Half-Life 2, and if I weren't looking forward to that game so much, I'd certainly pick up this deal.
