I couldn't find a good review comparing the two Anyway, where I'm planning to buy the HD4850 costs about $15 (before tax) more, I'm not sure if its worth it, or at all which of the two will make a better selection.
Thanks.

Edit: Both cards are 512mb.. I can add about $20 and get the 9800GT with 1024mb but of some other brand name (can't remmember)

I didn't ask before but can you elaborate a little?
I have to say I'm a little affraid of going with ATI, since my last experience with one of their cards wasn't the best (drivers & other fun issues).
Also I heard the ATI cards consume much more power, heat more and make more noise?

As I said I might be wrong, and obviously willing to consider ATI or else I wouldn't make this thread, but I'd appreciate some more details.

Thanks!

The 4850 trade blows with the 9800 GTX and 9800 GTX+. The 9800 GT is slower. The 4850 is also a more future proof architecture.

The 9800 GT and 4850 consume about the same power.

4850 stock ones run very hot BECAUSE THE FAN SPINS VERY SLOWLY. You can increase it and now is quite easy with the new 8.10 catalyst which has fan control.

About heat generated I don't know, but temperature of the card doesn't mean anything - colder cards can just mean better heat dissipation.

Both nvidia and ati drivers are good. Sometimes people just have one of those systems that dislike a piece of hardware. Doesn't matter the brand.

So unless you want CUDA, since physicX and dx10.1 aren't used now, go for the 4850.
