MSI K7Pro and AGP Problems

Hey Everyone--
Hopefully someone can help me out here. I'm running a Duron 700 -->900 on an MSIK7TPro board. I was having troubles with 3D games and whatnot, so I decided to run the DirectX Diagnostic tool. When I do, and it runs the AGP texturing test, I get this error:

AGP texturing test results: Failure at step 41 (Creating AGP Surface): HRESULT = 0x8876017c (unknown error)

Does anyone know a way around this? I am running the newest Via 4-in-1 drivers, and the newest AGP fix from Via. On my GeForce2GTS I'm running the Detonator 3 drivers (6.31). I went back to those from 7.17 hoping that an official release from NVidia would help. Any help woul dbe appreciated.

I've never worked on this particular board, but the Gigabyte GA-7ZX I've got (which of course uses the same KT133 chipset), had all sorts of trouble running the AGP slot at 4X, but runs fine at 2X. You said you got the latest AGP fix from VIA... Do you have a URL you could post for more info? Thanks. Also, did you try your card manufacturer's drivers? I found that ASUS's drivers for my vidcard actually benchmarked higher framerates than any of the Detonator releases... No FSAA though...

Maybe that'll help some. BTW, using the drivers from the manufacturer didn't help either (or at least I don't think it did, maybe I'll try that). I did turn of FSAA thinking that may be causing the problem, but still no help.

I`m using the same board(MSI K7T PRO)but with Geforce2 MX (6.31 drivers)card anyway it runs fine in 4xAGP with 3D games,all I can suggest is try setting restore defaults in Nvidia control panel for DX & OpenGL,the only problem I had is my ram timing settings were wrong in Bios on the first day I tried to run 3D games ,once I corrected this it was ok.

Don`t forget to tweak your Bios,I use 64mb for Aperture size & using DX8.Btw have used both 4.24 & now 4.25a Via drivers with no problems, one rock solid board.
Last note does it run 3D games at CPU default speed?

Thanks for the link, I'm going to see if that fixes my original AGP 4X problem when I get home. Just grasping for straws now, but perhaps have you looked into your monitor's refresh rate??

Try the Later Detonator 3 drivers version 6.47. Here's a link riva3d.com.
Also check your viagart.vxd driver to make sure that it is infact version 4.04 and NOT version 3.30, which is also included in the 4-in-1 driver package. When I installed the 4-in-1 drivers, I discovered that version 3.30 was installed instead of version 4.04.
Also just make sure that you have the latest BIOS.
