MSI K7T Pro 2-A ---Windows 2000 and Drivers

Have not got my motherboard yet (MSI K7T Pro2A) nor have i received the CPU (AMD 1.1ghz).
I need to know of any drivers that i may need to run win 2000 pro. Im gonna set up a dual boot (win98/win200) on seperate drives..........win 98 on an old 14 gig maxtor and win2000 on my new IBM deskstar 45 gig ATA 100. Now i've heard a little about win2k with the ATA 100 being a problem? is this true? Drivers?
As far as the rest of my sys tem i think im ok with the drives but im also a little concerned about USB stuff with Win2k.....will the new MOBO and win2k be cool with the USB drivers?
I know I asked a lot and prob left out a lot but this should get it started anyhow!

Windows 2000 will not support ATA-100 until Service Pack 2 (SP2), unless you want to phone Microsoft to get the hotfix (it's not worth it). I used an IBM support utility called ATASWITCH here: http://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/hddtech/ibmatasw.exe to force by IBM 75GXP into UMDA 4 (ATA-66)and all works fine. Win2K will run the drive in PIO mode until you do this (check out device manager). As for drivers, Win2K supports your drive, but you could consider using VIA's leaked busmaster drivers, available here: http://viahardware.com/download/580_3011.EXE

I have encountered no problems whatsoever with USB support.

I have no idea about ATA100 on the VIA, my A7V has a promise controller and runs ATA100 fine in Win2K.... But Im sure he is right in saying just use the IBM software to force ATA66 on the drive.

Dont use the newest bus mastering drivers that where leaked from 4.26, they make everything SCSI and it has problems if you have a CDRW... Make sure you install these 2 things and youll be fine.

Install all of the VIA 4in1 4.15a....

And install the Win2K VIA AGP patch AFTER you have installed your 4in1 and your Video Drivers.... I always install 4in1 first before anything else.

Then just install the rest of your drivers normally.

I'm running a ATA-100 drive in Win2K fine on a ATA-100 RAID controller. Never had a problem. What do you mean by <Win2K will run the drive in PIO mode until you do this (check out device manager).>? What are you supposed to look at and what is it supposed to say? In my device manager, it shows my RAID controller as UDMA/ATA-100 RAID controller, working fine, and my hard disk shows up as IBM DTLA-307030 SCSI Disk Device, and is working properly.

Design you have a seperate controller like I do and thats why its fine, VIA doesnt have drivers that suppport the ATA100 in Win2K like Promise does or whoever.... 4.26 should fix it as should SP2, but the current leaked release of 4.26 is buggy.

the usb drivers will be fine. the ata-100 will not. you need to download a program from via called bus master...i'll post again when i find the link...

i think the drivers are in the disk that came w/ the msi board. but i still downloaded it. it might be in the &quot;4-in-1&quot; drivers or something.
