MSI K7T PRO2A boot problem

Upon starting the computer it appears to go to the bios with no problem. The screen properly identifies the cpu, hard drive, and 1.44 floppy. Then it gets to "verifying DMI pool data...." and then states "invalid system disk Replace disk and press any key"

I have the windows 98 system disk in drive a:.
I tried another system disk.
I have switched the drive cable.
I have switched the floppy drive.

Any suggestions or is the board bad?

From What you describe, it sounds to me like a bad bootdisk(s). Go to Link download a new bootdisk, and try again.

Same thing happened to me after running Fdisk. When I restarted to format, I got a similar message. Freaked me out! I tried everything else, 'cause I had just used that floppy to boot and run Fdisk. Turned out to be the floppy. Wierd how they can go bad so suddenly.

Bad board IMO. I'm having the EXACT problem. I thought I was going crazy...I went through 10 disks...formatted them all and made system disks trying to boot up via floppy. Finally I said this is ridiculous.

So I tried changing the floppy cable and to no avail. Then I tried THREE different floppy drives and still not success. Conclusion...FDD controller is bad on the MB. I RMA'd it and have a new one coming.

In the meantime I hooked up an HD with Windows already on it...booted that up, used P-Magic to make the new HD on the system active after SYS'ing it. Took that HD off and was able to boot straight to new HD.

what is the hard drive jumper set at? if its set wrong it will give you that message.

Why not install your OS from your cd-rom drive?
You don't need to use the floppy at all.

I had the exact same problem, "verifying DMI pool data...." and then states "invalid system disk Replace disk and press any key".

Try changing your overclock values to default and open your computer case. I discovered that my CPU was running too hot. I was then able to boot fine. If this answers your problem than you will need to explore other ways of cooling your system.

i have written this for 2 month!!

i asked the forum about a statement from a big german reseller.

the reseller says: THE MSI KT7Pro2 and KT7Pro2A Mainboards only work 100% with TEAC Floppy Drives".

all answers i get say: "thats bullsh*t"

maybe it´s true?

I cannot believe that is true,anyway I only have the MSI K7T PRO but it works great with NEC floppy drive.

My Pro2A works fine with a 5 year old P.O.S. $14.00 Generic floppy.

Did you try to turn off the floppy seek option in bios.
