bluesky,
The reason I am avoiding the raid is because I am building an all SCSI system and will never use it. From my understanding, you cannot totally disable the onboard raid and it uses up an IRQ. In my case, I think less is better for stability and I can have another free IRQ.

jimmygates,
What are the estimated prices on the boards?

Thanks...

I haven't seen an K7T-Turbo boards out here in Akiba (Akihabara, Tokyo) yet... so I think they are still a ways off. We tend to get stuff here a few weeks before the U.S., so I'd guess close to another month..

I really wanted to pick up a Turbo board (I recently traded in my Rev. 1.01 A7V), but since they aren't available yet I went for the stable (unlike my A7V) K7T-Pro2A... Maybe I should have picked up a Abit or Asus KT133A board, but decided that stability was most important...

What about the issue of the south bridge? I read a post that said ASUS probably only offered their A7V133 with RAID because of a flakey south bridge. Should I get the Turbo-Raid board for additional stability if I am NOT using SCSI?

are you ABSOPOSITIVELY sure there are two versions? if you look at the link lemming posted, the TURBO (no R) has 4 IDE ports, which means that it was infact the Raid version.
or maybe they were just too lazy to take a pic of the non raid...

I dont think so there are two different versions, the K7T Turbo and the MS-6330 V3.0B are the same thing, Turbo and Turbo R are just the fancy names of the same product.

blammo22:

I agree Japan usually gets these stuff earlier than the US, but the Turbo is already available through several US vendors over here so I dont know.

Don't know bout the MSI Raid/Promise controller but my Raid is disabled in the bios and does not take up an IRQ.I have also read about Two versions of the Turbo, and i believe they have been waiting to see how other manufacturer's boards performed,so they could make a board that would bench higher,or have they had problems to solve?

LXi:

If there was no difference between the two boards then why would one dealer offer both at the same time? And for different prices?
Check out Bartl! It's a German site but theres also an English version.

Edit: forget about the english version. Just go to onlineshop and do an expert search for "turbo"!

I think the names Turbo and Turbo-R would obviously differentiate the two boards. Turbo and Turbo-"Raid"

I think the e-mail from my supplier makes it clear that there will be two versions of the board. Turbo and Turbo-R have two different part # from my supplier and the Turbo-R notates that it has Promise's RAID controller.

Even though RAID is becoming more and more popular with current motherboards, I think MSI is making a good move by providing a line of motherboards without RAID for users like "slydog" who want a stable motherboard solution and is using all SCSI components. It wouldn't be every smart if MSI forced SCSI users to buy the RAID board when they can save some cash on a non-RAID version.

In addition, jimmygates, since MSI deals so much with OEM's, it would be a very wise decision.

Nope, Turbo and Turbo-R appeared on two different mirror sites. On their Taiwanese main site, which is the main site, you can find Turbo-R, the Turbo non-R is nowhere to be seen. On their North American mirror site, there is only K7T Turbo, not Turbo-R. The interesting thing is, both of them are given the model name "MS-6330 V3.0B", and both said it has RAID features. So as you can see, they're the same thing.

LXi: I see what your saying from MSI's websites. Either don't do a very good job updating their site or naming their boards.

Maybe the Non-RAID/RAID is V3.0A?

My supplier will be carrying two different boards.

Dex: AMD Socket-A 133/266 MHz FSB M/B

Availability: 500 units in HQ as back order
Note: This is one of the most wanted MB in MSI Socket-A series. It is
called K7T TURBO

There is no V3.0A, only V3.0B, the MS-6337 also has a revision called V3.0B(815EP Pro-R), never a V3.0A. This is confusing the hell out of me, they should make it clear that there are two versions, I certainly like to see the Turbo board without a RAID controller, which is something that has never been announced, never seen a picture of, and never been mentioned by any hardware sites, of the three reviews on the Turbo, all have the RAID controller.

well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

How long do you think it will be until we can see them at local retail stores?

$147 is not overpriced at all for a board with RAID, Jim I may as well drive over to your place if I need one.
