Both of the USB hubs and the AGP port are sharing IRQ 5. I suppose this is NOT good. Should I assign a dedicated IRQ for AGP and how can it be done ?

Maybe that's the reason Outlook 2K and IE 5.5 both hang at the first starts. The ISDN adapter is on USB.

Go to the BIOS under PnP/PCI Configurations and try changing INT Pin 1 Assignment from Auto to some other IRQ. From my experience, it looks like INT Pin 1 is the AGP, INT Pin 2 is PCI1, etc.

If that won't fix it, maybe try changing Assign IRQ for USB to disabled (I'm not sure if USB needs an IRQ, but I guess it's worth a shot?)

I have the same problem and I have yet to find a way to resolve it. USB most certainly needs an IRQ, so if you plan on using it you must enable the assignment of an IRQ. My agp and usb are both sharing an IRQ and I can't seem to part them.

Mine are sharing irq 10 but I have yet to encounter a problem with this arrangement. Nothing is crashing and the system is rock stable. I don't worry about it.

This is my IRQ distribuiton, and my computer still locks up, when I play DIVX films, or Direct3d games:

(I disabled SB16 emulation, COM2 and USB controller, and note that my graphic card (3D Prophet SE) doesn't share IRQ, but my PC still locks up...)

0: System timer
1: Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard
2: Programmable interrupt controller
4: Communications Port (COM1)
5: ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering

6: Standard Floppy Disk Controller
7: ECP Printer Port (LPT1)
8: System CMOS/real time clock
9: SCI IRQ used by ACPI bus
10: ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
10: Creative SB Live! Value
11: 3D Prophet SE

In my machine, both USB hubs and the AGP port are also sharing IRQ 5. The machine is working fine at the moment because I don't have anything plugged into the USBs, I think. But as soon as I try to install drivers for my sound card ALS4000, win98se locks up. When I enter win98se in safe mode, I can see the sound card is trying to use IRQ 5 as well. Where do I go to assign it a different IRQ?

He may be referring to this one <<wk7tpro2av24>> It was not on MSI a week or so ago when I downloaded <<wk7tpro2av22>> or at least I didn't see it.

Yikes....I never noticed that myself. It's still listed as v2.2 but has v2.3 listed under it, and file name is for v2.4.....even the description/fixes is same as v2.2....

If you will look at the W6330VMS.XXX it has an extention of 240 and a date of 2/7/01. That is a different extention than the one I downloaded last time. it was W6330VMS.220. I still ever now and then
have to make a couple of boots before mine fires off so I may try this one

biggest difference I can see is it rearranged my IRQ's.....again...and added an option in BIOS to boot from ATA or SCSI....

I can't see this BIOS in the msi.com.tw site! Where is it?
I also have the USB sharing with the Video card.

Thanks

Well, I notice in mine it now has my vid card sharing IRQ with USB but, in BIOS I have PNP OS set to YES and it lets Windows reassign my IRQs and Windows was at least smart enough to put vid card on its own IRQ.....
