Hi,
I just built a new system with a MSI K8N Neo2 motherboard and two WD74GB raptor drives hooked up to the SATA 1 and 2 ports in RAID0.
At bootup, WinXP Pro SP1 shows the removable hardware icon in the lower left tray by the clock. This is the same icon that shows up when you connect USB RAM storage. You are supposed to "stop" the removable drive before disconnecting it from the USB port. If I click on this icon I am given the option of "stopping" either of the two raptors. There are no devices connected to the USB ports at this time. I am using the latest 1.10 BIOS and the SATA RAID drivers that came with the board. The motherboard drivers are also installed. WinXP is up to date via Live Update, but SP2 is not yet installed.
This is only the third PC I've built but as far as I can tell, aside from this goofy icon, the system is working great. Still, I think it would be a VERY BAD thing to try and "stop" one of the drives in a RAID0 array (the system partition is on this array). Is there a way of getting rid of the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon? Is this indicative of a larger problem that is waiting to bite me?
Any suggestions are appreciated,
Jeff
