I couldn't take the noise anymore...On my way home from work I bought a Creative Audigy SE for $30.00 at Staples. Sounds great! I will probably upgrade to an X-Fi in the future, but this sucker does the job nicely for now. I didn't feel like RMA-ing back to Geeks.

I could not get the NU2.nu bootable CD to run, it just sits there with a blinking cursor but I can not type anything (ps2 keyboard)

I just burned the BIOS files with Nero Burning ROM instead.
Just select CD-ROM (boot), use the image file Nero provides,
add the two bios files and burn.

Now boot it up, type d: (enter), type the AFW.EXE W7125NMS.1D0 (enter)

I renamed the executable to AFW, but is not necessary.

I used the no1.44 link at bootdisk.com, it's flashcd.zip. Unzip that, burn the ISO. Burn another disc with flasher.exe and bios.rom and boot from the ISO disc, swap discs and flash.

Other than the on-board sound problem - how is this board working for most people? This would provide me with a cost-effective solution to upgrade from AGP to PCI-Express [X1950 Pro]

Coloumb, I have two of them up and running now. I have an AMD 64 3400 in mine and my kids have an AMD 64 3200 in theirs. I have a pair of 1 gb Mushkin value sticks (DDR400) in it, and my kids have a pair of 512m Ultra values. I have mine running @ 2.4GHZ with stock voltage. No problems with the sound in either of them. Can't beat it with a stick

I think the sound problems are just driver conflicts. Really good board that overclocks well too.

just stuck a 4000 in the board and powered it up for the first time... i have it on a bench... as soon as i turn the psu on the thing turns on... that's odd thing #1...

couldn't get a screen with the x1800xt (using a digital to analog adaptor for the tube)...

stuck my trusty s3trio pci card in and it came up to bios screen... all looked good, temps, etc... so i turned it off to try to flash the bios... now it won't boot up again... never flashed the bios...

using 1 stick of hyperx3500 (tried a stick of 4000, too)...

anyone else have the situation where the thing powers on the second u put power to it? the switch pins don't look bent or shorted...

tried 2 different psus, antec and ultra, both behave the same...

I have had 3 different boards by 3 different makers that powered up the first time by hitting the rocker switch on the power supply. After that, they would power up correctly.

Been looking for an inexpensive 939 board since November. Haven't been able to find a decent one for less than $70 shipped. I was a little skepticle about this board since it was obviously manufactured for Futitsu, but feedback continues to be positive, so I am in for one. I have an A64 3000+ (Venice) laying around that needs a new home. At less than $50 shipped, it is hard to beat.

I just bought a second one. The first one has been running fine for months (although the chipset fan might need to be replacing soon) and this is still a heck of a deal for a S939 Nforce MB.

Mine has been working great with a A64 4000 and 2 sticks of Corsair value 512s. I flashed mine with the windows-based updater and it went fine. It was the first time I've flashed a mobo bios in windows. It was nice not messing around with bootdisks. No probs with audio at all. I will be trying the optical output soon...

As far as I can tell, these boards are rebranded OEM versions of the Neo4-FI (revision 2.0 board) and come with a pretty stripped down BIOS with no overclocking options or anything, which was a little annoying since I bought this primarily to overclock an Athlon64 X2 3800+ with.

I rolled the dice and attempted to flash my board with the Neo4-FI rev1.0 BIOS version 1.D and lo and behold, it worked! I've got the full complement of overclocking options in the BIOS menu now and the default MSI splash screen. I'm really glad I didn't fry my board and was able to get the overclocking options working.

This board is the Neo4-FI (which isn't normally sold in the US?) and not the Neo4-F or Neo4 Platinum, more like something in between. It does include onboard firewire. All in all I'm really happy to get this for under $50, thanks OP.

You are one lucky dude b/c I flashed mine and though the monitor light turned green as there is video signal, but the screen is black. I have the same board as yours.
What can I do now guys?
Thanks.

Bad Dude, there is a way to force-flash the bios. You need a bootdisk, and a different BIOS file, and a batch file that will run on boot-up, so you don't have to see anything on screen. Someone here I'm sure will come up with the batch file for you and the rest of the info....

Wish I had it for you....

if what cardiac sez is correct, then u ought to be able to use the info on how to create a boot cd, and if u read the instructions u can put the flash command in the autoexec.bat and it should run... i don't know what the flags u need to set in the awdflash cmd are to bypass all of the prompts, but someone here might...

i had no trouble flashing from the boot cd i made, but i did it manually...

Second board is up and running flawlessly. I've used the windows-based flash program for both boards to get rid of the old crippled BIOS and it's worked fine each and every time.

That's what I do not remember: The parameters that go after the awardflash.exe

There are a few that need to go there...... Anyone??

1) The problem I got is that when starting the computer, I don't see that it run from the floppy. When I first got the board, I had to turn the floppy on and I think some how it default to turn the floppy off.
2) I can't get the floppy to start, I know the floppy works as I have tested it.
3) As for the batch file, is this it?

Yep, the one on the right (Award) is the one I was thinking of. Will recover from a bad flash. Butttt, if your floppy isn't being recognized, I don't know what the heck you can do.......Gotta be something though....

I'm just running stock speed. My case doesn't have a lot of ventilation and I don't really game with this rig so....
