Edit: Can anyone recommend a quiet, but efficient Socket 939 cooler? I'd be willing to spend about 20-30 for it, so long as it's quiet.

Arctic Cooling 64 is very quiet

Just wonder why the price went up so much. Now $60 and you used to be able to find them for around $20.

Has anyone used a 500 watt antec smartpower 2.0 modular ps with this mobo? Frys has it on sale and I was thinking of trying it out.

edit:

nvrmnd, saw a thread at fw with a lot of complaints about this ps. i'll wait and get something more reliable when i upgrade.

The ddr400 drops to 333mhz at post because the memory clock in bios gets set to 166mhz. If you set your memory clock to 133mhz in bios at the next boot it will show memory at 266mhz while posting.

That's the Alpine64, not the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro, completely different animal. The Alpine is not near as good. Newegg's price on the Freezer 64 pro must be a mistake..

Ah ok, my bad. Too many Arctic Cooling products with the "64" in them, confusing, but I still think it has to be a mistake on newegg. Here it is at frozencpu (granted, OOS) but the price is $29.95

FrozenCPU Freezer 64 Pro $29.95

I think Newegg may have some sort of automated pricing program in place based upon supply and demand. I have seen some of their items priced very high in comparison to other dealers. Maybe when sales go up, the program raises the price until sales slow down.

Hard to believe they finally ran out of these. It was a good run while it lasted. Of course I now wish I would have ordered a third board. Guess that means I'll have to switch to core 2 duo......lol.

Indeed. They call it "dynamic pricing"

i.e. We all see Opteron 165 for $100 even and it gets posted here, Slickdeals, ObeseWallet, and other sites. 100 people order in a matter of minutes, the price automatically goes up to $200.

I also believe as stock gets below a certain threshold, the prices jump.

I saw the AC Freezer 7 Pro (what I use on my E6400) for NINETY DOLLARS. I even posted about it at Hardforums.

I saw the AC Freezer 64 Pro for EIGHTY DOLLARS.

Now both prices are lower, but far from reasonable.

Can't believe this board is OOS. Well -- MINE IS ON EBAY LOL.

Damn! I was going to order today...argh.

can anyone recommend a decent (meaning stable, doesn't need to be OC'able) 939 and PCi-E board?

Ugh...

edit#1: This board does support the 3400+ correct? I can't see why it wouldn't.

edit#2: Picked up 1 of 2 that geeks was selling on eBay. I paid 44.99 though: price gouging!

I spoke with Geeks 2 months ago, they said they had over 400 of them. Might be time for me to sell my spare one I have sitting here.

Hey guys I really need some help!!! I'm up and running but can't connect to the internet. This is my first Nvidia board in years so I'm not exactly positive how things should look. I loaded xp and then sp2 from a disk, then loaded the nvidia board drivers from msi's site ck804, and lastly the video card drivers.

In device manager everything looks good. Under Network adaptors it lists two: one says 1394 net adaptor and the second says nvidia nforce networking controller. I suspect the first one (1394) should probally say marval gig lan controller, but I'm not sure. Under driver it listed a micosoft driver from 2001. That can't be right can it?

I've tried several different ways to uninstall and/or update the driver but xp keeps telling me it can't find a better driver for the devise and boots me out. I've run out of ideas.
Lastly, I'm on cable and I set explorer to auto detect my connection.

Thanks in advance!

My device manager looks like yours. Do you see the LED light at all around the ethernet port light up?
