hmm... guess you're right there. but I would like to see some benchmarks from a site I trust (or even one I can read for that matter). maybe a better comparison is 2 6600gt's vs a 6800gt ($388) you could still be right even with that comparison.

But even so, there is one sure fire winner if you pit 1 6800ultra up against 2 6800ultra's! So maybe it's just for ultra gamers.

Also one thing I've thought about is buying one vid card now, then later when prices come down, buying a second of the same. Very cheap way to double your performance! Waddaya think?

that maybe a way to save some cash but maybe not if alot of people will go this way, then prices will stay high for the 66gt`s. another problem could be that u will have to buy a card of same bios revision and layout and brand to avoid incompatibilities. Iam not sure if that really will b a big problem, but my thought is that its not guaranteed that if the 66gt u buy right now will be running in SLI mode with a 2nd new 66gt u goin to buy in a year due to too many changes concerning the bios, chipset, layout. so u maybe have to find an "old" one which can be hard to find. But like i said, this is more my speculation.

wow, I guess this review confirms it. I'm a bit surprised I must admit. Guess I just got sucked into the hype. As for the upgrade thing: I guess time will tell.

i know, and pls dont think its a nice job to destroy illusions but someone has to do it. SLI will be the future - time will prove that iam right (i hope) - but as long as ur not rich SLI is not worht to get today. in my oppinion there are a lot of new inventions in the comp branche that tend to be not really worth to have them very early but will become standard some years later. Like s-ata was, or ddr2 and ddr3 will be, and SLI`s goin to be standard in like in 2006 and 2007- maybe. time will tell as u said.

ZZF is suposed to have the Platinum SLI available today. Now, they've already changed the date on their site about five times, so it'll be interesting to see how they deal with this today. But the price went down considerably----> K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI
