MSI KT3 Ultra or Abit KR7-Raid

I am looking for a good performance mobo but am stuck between this two. I know the MSI KT3 Ultra is able to support DDR333 which means better future upgrade but the Abit KR7-Raid has got good reviews from several websites. So which shall I choose from? Any recommendation please?

The MSI KT3 Ultra can come with RAID and USB 2.0. not only does it support 333 for the RAM it also supports 333mhz for the FSB. you can adjust the FSB in 1MHZ increments from 100 to 220mhz. Also, once you go past 152mhz on the FSB the 1/5th divider kicks in. so you can to 166/166 (333/333DDR) for the RAM and FSB with out overclocking the PCI bus or RAM. some people have been able to go as high as 200mhz FSB (400DDR). i have been able to get my RAM and FSB up to 190/380 with some Samsung 333DDR and an unlock Athlon. plus, i find that the MSI is way more stable than the ABIT in general since i have had a zero failure rate on these boards. probably gone through at least a 1000 boards so far. The MSI gets high reviews as well.

Abit I hear has a high RMA rate, and has crap support, I think someone on the forums (i believe it's NFS4?) has dropped his contract with ABIT

I have the MSI and can't be happier, this board was GIVEN to me, and I was a loyal EPoX fan, and this KT3 RAWKS, it's purdy too, RED!

I couldn't be more than happier to have used a MSI board, as well as seeing so many peeps making friendly and trustful suggestions. There are just too many punk asses on Tom's Hardware trying to get ppl buy craps like ECS or BIOSTAR.

Just a word of warning, the Ultra isn't equipped with RAID or USB 2, the Ultra ARU is the model with these features. I have this motherboard and wish MSI hadn't used a Promise "lite" controller. It can't be used as an IDE controller like the Highpoint controller on my Abit KT7A-RAID, I had to set up a striped array to use my HDD on it, and the ATTO disk benchmark show poor HDD performance through this "lite" contoller. Thanks for the advices. So I have tried the KT3 Ultra but am having some problem detecting the processor. I use the Athlon XP1800(1.53Ghz), KT3 Ultra & PC2100 DDR but eh computer shows me only 1.1+++Ghz after booting. The computer is using 100x11.5 but my processor model no. ends with a 'C' so it means 266, right? When I manual set it to 133x11.5 to get the 1.53Ghz, the pc starts giving lots of problems. What could be the problem? Anyone has similiar problems?

If you're looking for DDR333 support it would make more sense to get the Abit KX7-333R, not the KR7A.

wow, Im really surpried to find that not too many people suppor ABIT on this Forum.

Lot of harware websites have praised ABIT for quality and performance and in case of KT266A boards, Abit was the fastest and most overclockable of the bunch, right behind EPOX.

Im running KR7A-RAID with XP1700+ at 145Mhz at stock volatage and its rock solid.

This is the second Abit board I've owned and I have nothing but good things to say about Abit.
