Hi everyone,

I need hellpppp... I just bought this new mobo for a couple of days but since day one it already gave some strange indication. First in the BIOS my XP 2600+ was only detected 1250Mhz. It also makes some trouble for me such as my system frequently experiencing hangs in a sudden and when playing games also, especially 3-D games.
I didn't OC my system and the memory timing is set to auto also. I hav no idea why this happens. My mobo was Soltek before and it never gave me such a trouble. And also I've reformatted the hard disk and installed a fresh windows but it still gives me those problems.
This is my complete system list:
Athlon XP 2600+
MSI KT880 Delta-FSR
Kingston ValueRam 2x256Mb
Maxtor 40Gb + WD 80 Gb
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600XT
Creative Audigy
TDK 1616DLN + MSI DVD-ROM 16x
475Watt PSU

Are there any system incompabilities or other problems?
Hope to hear some solutions.
Thanks.

I have this same motherboard. I replaced my three year old Gigabyte GA-7VTXE with this one because the computer suddenly crashed and wouldn't reboot. I got a message that there was a hardware problem and Windows was doing a memory dump. It suggested rebooting once if this was the first time I got this message. I rebooted and got the message again, then completely dead. Found the four capcitors surrounding the CPU corroded on the motherboard.

When I put in the new motherboard, everything seemed to hum along fine for a few days. Then I ran into a sudden Windows crash and it rebooted. Then I started getting "failed ram test" during boot. Today, I got a failure to boot into Windows XP with a "BAD_POOL_FAULT" message. Later today, I started finding only 256 MB of ram on boot and system information, when there's TWO 256 MB sticks of PC2100 ECC memory in there.

Question: I'm about to replace the memory and see if anything improves. Does anyone know if PC3200 memory will function properly with my CPU, which is an Athlon XP 133 MHz FSB unit?

Thanks

Checked system and cpu temperature reports in bios:

cpu : 53 degrees C

system: 43 degrees C

Voltages all seem good.

Thanks for your response.

The ECC ram is most likely the problem for you krickster. While some boards will run ECC ram even if it isn't supported, just with the ECC capability disabled, I have also seen it cause problems or even prevent booting in others. Get some regular DDR and give it a try.

The KT880 chipset supports ECC RAM and the KT880 Delta manual says:

"Please note that the DDR SDRAM can support ECC (error correcting code), but does not support registered DIMM."

I'm going to try pulling one the sticks one at a time and see if I can isolate which stick is not functioning properly.

Thanks

I just tried the memory, one stick at a time, in the primary slot. One stick boots, the other doesn't. Looks like bad stick.

I am going to agree with Dapunisher on this one. You have no need to be running ECC memory on your system, and it is going to kill your overclock.
