For people looking to upgrade the GPU in slim PCs: http://techreport.com/news/30996/msi-latest-gtx-1050s-slot-into-even-the-smallest-pcs It's still a two-slot card though.
Considering the performance of the 1050 Ti, this is awesome. Now for a suitably compact and well-ventilated case plus a ~300W PicoPSU, and you'd have a true console killer.
That's kinda-sorta true, but my point was the miniscule size of this. Adding an SFX power supply would nearly double the case volume needed when compared to something that fits an ITX board, a HHHL GPU and an SSD. But yeah, I don't think I've seen anything above 300W myself. Hopefully things will improve down the line. Finally,a RX460/GTX1050 class card which make sense, and does not have a massive cooler.
Not sure on that - a PS4 PRO has a downclocked RX480 and the XBox Scorpio is meant to have a much beefier GPU. Considering my GTX960 4GB and GTX1050TI are around the same speed,I don't really think it will doing much console killing anytime soon(look at BF1 being a prime example). Plus the highest decent picoPSU I have seen is 200W and is very dependent on finding a suitable DC converter. A lot of those Chinese jobbies are very dubious in what they can actually deliver.
Better to buy a semi-passive Corsair SF450 SFX PSU. It is one of the most amazing PSUs launched this year.

And sure, consoles are progressing. And they have the advantage of tight hardware integration to keep size down. But we're getting much closer to size parity with modular, upgradeable parts. And that's great.
Already ordered one for my HTPC.
If anyone from MSI is reading, kudos to you guys for bringing this to market.

Where from?
[OT]Is Proshop originally Danish? I'm Norwegian, and I've used them quite a lot. When it comes to finding very specific parts, they can't be beat. Great selection, good prices.[/OT]It's a Danish (well, more like "nordic") webshop, so I don't know how useful it'll be to you. www.proshop.dk

BTW, did you notice this LP variant being about the same price as its full-sized variants? As much as I want the card, I can't justify a big price premium for it.

Here is what the bottom of the heatsink looks like:
....Very nice.
But that does not appear to be the heatsink pictured in the product shot at TR.
So, would this card be a good choice for a SFF like these Lenovo's? These things are really cheap as off-lease reburbs but I've never seen a decent card that would fit.

Low Profile Bracket (*optional)
The MSI website also lists it as optional:
Wow. That's dumb. Why make a LP version of a $150 card, and not include the $0.10 piece of steel to make it work?
