MSI "Live Bios" Useful/Work?

I had to send my MSI K7T Pro 2a motherboard back for a new BIOS chip when I used this utility. Is that reason enough for you to use a bootable floppy instead?

I had that problem with my Asus A7V back on nov 2000.
It comes with a nice windows program BIOS upgrade,
hen why not using it, that's what i thought.
It crash and when I call them the said that I should use
the bootable floppy. I finally RMA'ed the mobo.
But it still on my mind until now, if we're not supposed to
use it or it it's just for expert. then why did they put
the program on the box .

I dunno if they have a better sofware nowadays but
i don't want to get into that mess again so i always do the bootable disk.

I would not use the MSI live bios update if you need to flash your MSI bios follow the MSI instructions here .

Ive used it many times with my MSI KT7 Pro 2-A it works great, however no big deal cause the board is only for my server

Basically when trying to flash from within Windows you are attempting to win the Lotto as if Windows and its idiosyncracies is not enough headaches!! This has to be a NO NO inspite of what MSI ASUS and others say. Always flash from a bootable floppy ALWAYS!

I've used the live bios... works fine. Make sure u are running 2k or xp. I wouldn't run it in 9x. Old MSDOS scares me still.

I'd 1st make a floppy and get your current bios copied though. then u can work backwards if the power goes out or something.
