I haven't built a system in three years so bear with me guys. I may have overlooked something small, but damn if I have any clue. Boy do I miss fat16 & fat32. Anyway getting to the point...
I recently bought a Msi Mega180. Put in an AMD 2700+ chip with 512 mb's of good ram, dvd burner, and a Seagate 200gb hard drive (possibly a barracuda). I partitioned the drive into three separate partitions, one 20gb, another roughly 90gb, and the final partition roughly 90gb as well.
Upon installation of WinXP w/ SP2 on the first partition, I copied over a bunch of data to the second and third partitions. (mostly music and videos and what not).
When I access the first partition, things are not noticeably slow. The second partition is much slower than the first but still accessible. The third partition is damn near impossible to access. It'll show the root of the partition but navigating beyond that is impossible. I do not believe that the drive access time correlates ot the inner/outer distinction on the physical hard drive, or else I could get Seagate for falsely advertising the hard drive as 200 gb when the last 90 gb is not accessible.
I already checked up on large drive support. It is activated.
What else may be the problem? Should I dump all the data and reformat and reinstall? Should I repartition?
