MSI Mobo

My first post, please be kind :whiste:

So, my gf came home one evening and well bought me a new pc. Our old one died a death.
I used to build them myself bout 5 years ago and I guess I've lost touch with whats out there.

Basically, she got us a HP p6606f machine. i3 550, win7, 64bit. Nice machine, does the job.

Tho, the mobo I found out to be thru cpuid is a MSI 2A9C...

Question- Can I upgrade the cpu to a i5 or i7 with this board? Below is the cpuid stats

best bet is to call hp and see what they say..depends on the bios they use...dont be surprised if it isnt as they may not have the cooling setup in the case good enough to handle a more powerful cpu + it may voud your warrantee...all those premade computers are pretty limited on what you can do with them...thats why on this forum you will find very few people who dont build their own rig...
what you have is pretty nice and you may have to live with what you have, but for a premade not bad for a home rig...oh welcome to the forums....

Thanks guys, I'll check the link when I get home. The rig is good for what it is, I may have to get back to my old hobby and start catching up and build my own :thumbsup:

Hi, my man, I am running an I7-860 Intel Quadcore on that exact mother board and I know it will also run the I7-960. Hope this helps!

How's that work? 960 is a 1366 chip. Board is 1156. Might need a hammer to cram it in the socket.
