Gah! And all this time I thought it was that the Abit KA7 was a sucky board. I swore never to buy their stuff again, and haven't. Interesting to see it wasn't all their fault.

Got hit w/ 2 soltek boards. Then they pulled out of us market on top of that, so, shipping and handling + time to send it back under warranty was more than replacement board was worth.

I think I have one. It's in the garage - still POSTs but unstable. Socket 370 VIA Apollo Pro 266 chipset - yup, a P3 board that can take SDRAM or DDR. Well, right now all it's taking on is a layer of dust.

Hopefully this action and others will give some manufacturers pause when considering how many corners they cut designing a product. Some things are worth the $2 higher product cost, IMO.

Thats odd, epox was more than happy to install new caps on a board for me that was outta warrenty!

Hmm, Abit had the same thing back in Feb of this year, I sended in my paper and stuff, and never see the light of it.

this is a pretty worthless settlement since the "class" is limited to 1999- to 5/2002 motherboards and you either currently must have the motherboard in your posession, or still have your receipts from badcaps.net to make a claim. Who in the world is going to have a 1999 broken bad cap motherboard still in their possession?

Funny, just a few weeks ago, I was ready to ship my MSI KT7 pro2A to a guy that needed some parts to build a rig, and I remembered that I had one tucked away that I had pulled from a rig, but couldn't remember why.

I noticed, sure enough, several bulging caps and 2 that were blown, so he got my old IWILL XP333-R instead. It's still sitting in the retail box I got from Monarch computers several years ago now, so it looks like I will benefit from the settlement....time to pack 'er up and ship it off

I wonder if that was why the caps on my Gigabyte busted and leaked, but it did take about 2 years to happen...
