Msi Neo2 - Bad bios flash?

I just got my MSI Neo2 platinum with amd 64 3000 from Monarch barebone yesterday.

I took apart my computer and installed the motherboard with my old parts, and booted up.

Everything seemed to go fine, fans powered up, and I got the great beep from the speaker to show a successful check, or I thought. About a second after the beep, I get a constant buzzing noise out of the little speaker that plugs into the bios and the computer hangs. Right where it shows the cpu speed. It always gets right there, never to the next step, so no memory count or anything like that. Keyboard plugged into either ps2 slot won't get power (i.e. can't toggle caps/num lock).

I tried clearing the cmos, but then it just freezes at the MSI post screen, I assume at the same point. I thought it might be the cpu, so I put in a verified working socket 939 3000+, but still the same problem. Diagnostic LED's stop at what the manual describes as:

BIOS Sign On
This will start showing information about logo, processor brand name, etc...

I was thinking of doing a bios recovery and reflash, but since it freezes so soon, I can't get a boot into dos to do the recovery/flash.

Those are some small movies I took so you could see exactly what it is.

What do you guys think. Monarch says they "test" the barebones and load the latest bios into the motherboard. Think they gave me a bad flash, or did I screw up somewhere?

Also, any ideas on how to fix?

Sounds like theres a setting it doesn't like.

Remove the cmos battery for a few mins, and when you power back it, the cmos will have defaulted, should boot ok then. Avoid changing too many settings at once as it may prove difficult to pin the cause down otherwise.

Why blame monarch...they are merely reselling MSI's mainboard. Assuming you selected their testing on this it's more than likely an issue with the way you have setup the board.

I would strip it to bare minimum and reboot. You also want to verify that the motherboard is not shorting to the case which has been a sort of common problem I have noticed lately with people doing more of their own installs now.

Good luck with it, I have had a lot of success and no problems with Monarch.

What are the rest of the components in your system. It may be a bad powersupply or one with not enough amps on the 12v rail.

Did you purchase a combo or a barebones? Combos get flashed with the latest release bios and tested to post. Barebones go through a bit more extensive of a testing period. If you PM me your order information, I will gladly have one of my top techs get in contact with you to see if we can get this all fixed up.

Well, I'm thinking it might be the flash they did. Not really angry with them, just trying to figure out what the problem is. Even on this transaction, they've been great. I had taken it to bare minimum, but I'm going to try some more stuff like taking out the cmos battery tonight for a couple minutes, removing the motherboard, etc etc...

Thanks for the posts, guys.

MonarchJoe THanks. Since you guys aren't open on weekends, I'll try some more troubleshooting today and give you another pm with the results and stuff later

EDIT: Well, it seems to be working fine now. The removal of the CMOS battery cured it. Nice call, Beaks, I just kept thinkin clearing cmos with the jumper was good enough. Installing components one by one now and soon, on to software.
