MSI Neo2 being upgraded?

I recently purchased the Neo2 plat 939 board from NewEgg. The board was not performing so I had to RMA it. Today, Newegg sent me an email that the board is now out of stock, so they are cancelling my order and refunding the RMA money.

When I looked for the board on Monarch and zipzoomfly, it shows the board with an estimated arrival date of a few weeks from now and a price about $20 higher than normal. When I went the the MSI site, it states that with the arrival of the new fx55, they were introducing several new boards and they mentioned the neo2.

Does this mean that this board as been upgraded from the neo2 board they were shipping out last month? In the mean time, I have a bunch of new components and no board to plug them in to. Gee thanks newegg. Would have thought you could have offered me something comparable before just cancelling my order.

I don't think there's a new revision of this board coming out, but it could happen.

btw, newegg gave you a chance to buy a new board elsewhere. What is not to like about that?

i'm in the market for this board too, and checked around ... most places are out of stock until next week at least. so that points to a manufacturer/distributor issue, which lends credence to your theory. however, it could just be dumb luck that stock in usa ran out and with the snafu in the californian docks, the logistics of distributing the next shipload is being delayed. it is, afterall, coming to x'mas buying season.

glad i got my msi board when i did! it took them nearly a week to even ship it (and it was in stock, so they said!). Haven't even taken out of the static bag yet..

That's because retailer know this is a very hot board and evertone wants one.. supply & demand....

Apparently they have gotten a slightly different chipset made in korea now instead of taiwan. The korean version overclocks much better. Newegg just got this board back in stock again a couple hours ago. I ordered one hoping it will be the korean made version, and that it will do higher than 273 HTT which is what my A8V maxed at.

"look under your NB and tell us the revision......if it's from TAIWAN (all before the production-week 0418A2) it's the neo2....AFTER 0418A2 it's established in KOREA and it can easily reach >300MHz...."

Sorry for sounding like a noob but what are you referring to when you say look under your NB? My new motherboard arrived today. They did revise the packaging. On the outside of the box it now says get a free copy of Windows 64-bit beta. I am still not sure where to look on the motherboard to verify version date.

yeah look under the NB fan. Mine ame from newegg yesterday and its a new revision. It still says taiwann on the chipset but the week is 0440 and it does over 300 HTT
