MSI Neo4 On-Board Sound Problems

I just built a computer with the MSI Neo4 with the onboard Creative 24-bit. Everything works fine, I've got the speakers plugged in, but when I try to play something, I get incredible distortion. Popping, etc, the sound is not even bearable. I've installed the latest drivers, monkeyed with the settings, nothing can get the sound clear. What can I do?

EDIT//

As a side note, I have some REALLY old Microsoft Sound System 80 speakers, which have the ability to run off USB, and they work perfectly, but as soon as I try to plug them into the rear LINE OUT port, it gets distorted and pops like crazy.

Possibly you should go to the mobo`s website as well as Creative labs website!
Maybe yoiur issue is addressed on one of the 2 websites!

Could well need to update your bios....

First thing I'd check is to see how the front panel audio is jumpered from the factory. MSI has been known to send boards out configured for front panel by default, where the sound from any speakers connected to main rear outputs is distorted until the jumpering is corrected.

So, reddog 418, did you ever get your onboard sound working? Sounds like we have the same problem. I thought Fasteddie had hit the nail on the head, but unfortunately, my jumpers were on correct. I even tried a second motherboard, thinking mine might have been defective. No such luck. I hope somebody out there can hekp. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion. I guess it just bothers me why a brand new MB out of the box would have this problem. I know the MB itself is not defective because I bought 2 of them at the time and the other one does the exact same thing! I am beginning to understand why they are called MOTHER boards.

well if i was you i would take my 2 pc's down to the shop where i bought my 2 mobo's from & get them to either tell me how to fix the problem or fix the problem them selves or give me my money back & go 2 new boards from some where else.
