Msi or Asus for P67

MSI hands down. i see more asus boards come in with issues than any other brand both as a sales and as a repair tech, and recently there have been some quality control issues i have seen on the P67 boards we got in our initial launch batch. maybe for the $250+ boards you will be okay, but the p67-GD65 (check HOCP for review) is the board i plan to get for my 2600k. also of note, it's one of the few boards on the market with 8 internal SATA ports right now, something i absolutely need to have, and it doesnt cost $260 like the UD5 to get that

Depends on the person you ask , quite a few unhappy Asus owners if you check other forums like HardOCP,OcUK,I'm quite surprised how many issues they have with the P67 Pro board compared to other brands.

I have the P8P67 Pro and it's still not up and running. From the beginning I've had a problem whenever I do a cold boot - it powers up for 3 seconds, shuts off for 3 seconds, and then powers back up. Found quite a few complaints about this on the ASUS forums. Also, after I got Windows installed I lost all my drives. Can't see them in BIOS and can't boot to Windows. Tried switching around the SATA ports and tried clearing CMOS, to no avail.

ASUS tech support recommended I call them, so will see if they can help. If not it's going back to MicroCenter, and I'm tempted to try the MSI P67A-GD65. Any thoughts on how the two compare would be great.

I did get the Asus P8P67 Deluxe, and I have not regretted it. Setting the new rig up was smooth and easy. Running with a Core i7 2600k (at stock for now), it is very very fast compared to the overclocked Q6600 I upgraded from.

I generally prefer Asus motherboards because I have had good luck with them, as opposed to MSI...

Some people are having issues with both the lower and upper end series of MSI where the voltage doesn't want to change no matter the settings. You'll have to update to the latest beta bios for it to work if you do have this issue. If you're running the lower end series like the P67S-C43 or any other board from that line, you're out of luck for now if you do have this issue (which means no overclocking to 4.5 ghz for now).



I have the GD65 and I had to update the bios to the beta bios for it to run properly.

I don't see why not?....especially when users are having BIOS issues with their Asus P67 Pro boards and it also has poorer space around CPU area compared to MSI GD65.

Personally Asus are overrated and I would regard Gigabyte and MSI at the very least as good as Asus.

Mainly based on personal experience. The GD65 may be a good board, but I wouldn't recommend MSI over Asus for anyone in the upper echelon of system building.

You are one of the few, some people can't even use the overclock tool in Windows since the BIOS is reading it as a locked CPU. There's also some voltage changing issues too in the BIOS, along with a bunch of other mess.

You forgot all the issues Asus are having,infact I would say they have more issues then any brand,anyway far as I know Asrock/Gigabyte don't have any issues.

Plenty more but you see my point,to be fair I expect new boards to have issues and Asus is a very popular brand, however some of these issues should of been detected/fixed at testing stage,Gigabyte are a popular brand too however they don't have nothing like the issues Asus are having.

Hopefully all the issues will be fixed with BIOS updates down the road.

noticed Newegg not only delisted, but deactivated the P8P67 Deluxe. Maybe it's nothing, but...

I've got a Gigabyte board now, and while i love it, it's always been a crapshoot. Really the only boards that I've never had issues with is MSI, and I think I'm leaning towards picking one up if I can convince myself to ditch the 1090T setup I've got...I know I don't NEED to do it, but...

Go with Asus. As drives expand beyond 2TB, you'll wish you had.

The UEFI firmware and GUID Partition Table (GPT) disk layout are what you'll need to get around this limitation of legacy BIOS and the MBR disk layout.
