MSI P35 Neo-F - worth saving?

Recently my brother's P35 Neo-F mainboard died. After replacing it with a new one I was examining the broken one. I found that all the capacitors around the CPU socket are bulging and are probably the cause. The caps in question are 680uF, 4V electrolytic. I would like to replace them with polymer caps but I'm not sure whether it is worth doing price wise. Are these boards decent otherwise? Because you can never have enough spare parts.

Nice board, as I remember a very stable board. I have a DFI NF3 Ultra-D that I just retired awhile ago, seems like the older boards were made very well.

I'm still rocking a pair of Gigabyte P35 boards. If it's possible to save the board, I would. Then grab a cheap E5200 and OC and put together a nice secondary rig for yourself (or someone else).

OK, I decided to do it. There are a couple of people I know who could use a faster computer. Also, my previous PC had an almost identical board (+FireWire) that strangely enough has polymer caps in the CPU VRM section already. It gave no problems to speak of, but since I didn't use it heavily at all I just wanted other people's opinions.

Well. Make sure to check ALL the caps on the motherboard. Since if you have a few bad caps, usually there will be more. So you might end up replacing ALL the caps on the motherboard. Still, may be worth it. Since if it works when you have done that (assuming no further components have suffered damage) you will have a working motherboard.

How did the motherboard die? Unstable, or did it not even post?
