::this is my second post about this, this post is more in depth but if I didnt mean to post it in the same forum::
Just bought a MSI P6NSLI, C2D 4500, crucial ballistix 1 gb ddr2, 8800gt pcie, cooler master 500W psu. Regular hds and one optical drive.
Ok from the start the only thing this set up does is power on, fans all spin fast, two led's on mobo light up, even the ram lights up, it has its own leds. I have yet to hear one beep from the mobo like my old ones have done. I dont have that Dbracket thing from MSI to check error codes, cant find where to buy it. This is what ive tried:
- literally bought a 8600gt also at best buy to check the vid card (the 8800gt is a pcie 2 card and mobo is a 1.0a, this shouldnt matter as ive read alot of people have this mobo/card config, I hope)
- took the whole mobo out of case to make sure it wasnt just a short, as one post I read this was a fix, no luck.
- took out memory to see if the board would beep in error, nothing.
- tried two power supplies, one older one without the 24 pin power, one the brand new one, both did the same thing.
- tried vga cable, dvi, and also 2 diff monitors, tried all four dvi outs, (2 on 8800gt, 2 on 8600gt)
- reset alot of plugs, reseated the cpu twice memory a bunch of times, as well as gfx.
I know ive done a few more things but drawing a blank, tomorrow i will see if i can buy new memory at best buy and return it afterwards, but as of right now im at a loss. Anyone have any ideas????
