Face it, all MFG's produce products that are faulty or develop problems over time. I've been working in this industry for many years, and MSI is a reputable company that offers a fine product.

The KT133a boards were horrible about developing leaking capacitors.
Agreed. You can probably post a similar thread/poll about any manufacturer and at some point, some product(s) will have been utter crapola. This happens. Get over it. I have used several MSI motherboards and a MSI video card, all flawless. MSI boards are not well known for OC'ing ability, but at stock I have found they are rock solid.
ROM drives are kind of noisy and not very fast, but they are working so far
Chances are MSI does not manufacturer these themselves, so I doubt this is their fault and shouldn't count in your "grade". Unless you know for certain that MSI is the actual manufacturer and not buying a third companies drive and branding it. I am not claiming one or the other, though I think it is more likely they do not manufacturer their own CD drives.

Simplistic poll. whether a person has had 1 MSI product that went bad or one product out of 500 they could still select yes on a bad product.

Anyway - multiple MSI products over the years. Even the ones I have passed down to other family members are still running. Not big overclockers, but the mobos I have had have been solid as have the optical drives.

had a KT3 Ultra 2 it ran well for about a year after that it couldn't run the FSB highier than 160 or it would hard lock all the time. It still runs fine lower than that now though.

I have an MSI motherboard, an MSI ti4200, an MSI CD-RW/DVD combo drive, and an MSI card reader.

All awesome, never had a problem with them. MSI makes some very stable non-overclocking motherboards.
